I also wish they would stop doing it with guns because it skews our gun death numbers.

I blame feminism. The tactics that feminists have used to garner greater equality has been to bring men down rather than raise women up.

I also read somewhere that women are more likely to attempt suicide than men but men are more likely to actually commit suicide. Just one more thing we’re better at I suppose.

In the 1st world we have loans, debts, houses, cars, mortgages, kids in college, stressful jobs, etc. And we also feel we must "keep up" with what other people are doing financially. In a poor country, there is none of this stress. Everyone is equally poor and just sits around and chills.

Remembering working on a group project in my MBA program with a girl from China and another girl from somewhere in the middle east. They were blown away at the idea of taking out a loan to expand the business, because in their cultures if you don't have the money in the bank you don't buy it. Opened my eyes to how much America relies on debt to get the things "we need" and don't think twice about it.

I think it can be a contributing factor. I’ve said many times that people with mental disabilities seem to be the happiest people on earth.

It’s also worth noting, men tend to select more fatal means when attempting (like firearm, hanging) so they almost always statistically have a higher number of actual suicides versus attempts to women who utilize means that may not be as fatal (like pills, cutting).

Because it’s not for attention

So women only attempt for attention? That’s an interesting hypothesis.

I like this trend of blaming covid lockdowns for things that were happening/trends that were forming long before we knew anything about Wuhan or Fauci

No, the attempt suicide by less violent means such as prescription overdoses as opposed to gunshot or jumping from a high building. Most theories suggest this is due to women being naturally more vain about their appearance than men are on average so they want to still leave a pretty corpse.

That’s not what I meant. Typically, the younger the person committing suicide, the more likely it is a cry for help, a bid for attention, or some type of big outward sign. The older you get, the more it’s out of complete desperation and an attempt to escape.

The data shows women are more likely to attempt suicide at younger ages.

My previous post wasn’t some type of assertion of one sex being better than another, more laying out why young girls might try pills or cutting while older men would choose a bullet

What are the numbers if you exclude Epstein, since he didn't actually kill himself?

That’s interesting. I wonder if it’s that more men are more likely to be exposed to guns at a younger age than women?

Probably a mix of a lot of thing.

Parents are probably more likely to address issues with their baby girl than their boys

Boys are probably more likely to shut in, where make more attention seeking cries for help
