Clicking in - 85,000 suicides in a 40 year study is about 2k per year.

If 80% male that leaves 400 or so total female, even before you sub segment by age, method, etc...

A 10% swing in girls 10-14 could be something like 15-25 total annual change if I caught the data right?

It’s tricky in small samples.

You would be even dumber if you listened to what they said.

Young girls are absolutely ruthless & mean. Trying to fit in is a big part of this and 24/7 access just adds fuel to the fire.

It'll only get worse, IMO

She just got out of a mental facility last week. Terrible what kids say and do. The internet escalates it 100 fold

Isnt it sad that her parents had no answer for her? Nor did this girl go to her parents with her problem in the first place. A sad day. Parents and their children are being raised by technology and dump all their problems on stranger psychologists. This isnt sustainable.

As my kids are getting older, I am terrified by these sort of things. Especially for my baby girl.

I don’t think I was ever bullied, but I experienced hateful mean girl crap as most other girls did at some point during junior high and high school. I remember how much it broke my heart and made me feel like my world was ending. Can’t imagine that same mean girls stuff being broadcast to everyone in school via fb or Snapchat.

Is the answer not letting them have smart phones and social media accounts? I’ve been strict about my kids thus far; neither kid has an iPad (or access to mine), iPhone, and if ever they play on the phone it’s golf clash, Netflix app to watch “wheels on the bus”, or a word game I play with my son. Which I think is too much but limited a few times/week.

Heard something the other day about one of the most popular tv shows among young girls is some show about committing suicide. No idea what the name of the show is.
