In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if LSU allowed the band to play the banned songs in the last 2 home games just to "catch the Greeks in the act" so that they would have reason to pull their seats.

Plus they were already on double secret probation.

I've set on every side of Tiger Stadium, and you can hear "Suck That Tiger Dick Bitch" from High School kids, adults, students, greeks, coon asses, sidewalk fans. A lot of people are guilty in this matter

The issue isn't as much random people saying it here and there as it is a huge chunk of folks in one area shouting it in unison, making it clearly heard on TV and throughout the stadium.

I have never heard any other significant source of it than from the SS (again talking about vulgar chants not just scattered people cursing).

Taking away reserved seating won't do anything but bring back gameday rituals from the 1980's. Pledge classes would wait outside the gates of TS on Saturday morning and stake out seats for the entire chapter. All of the fraternities knew their place in the stadium so it was pretty civil between Greeks. Non-Greeks who tried to sit in the fraternity's section were encouraged to sit elsewhere. After the first couple of games in a season, everyone knew the deal and an informal system of reserved seating was in effect.

The only thing that will change the chanting is to kick individuals out for the season. Kick enough out, people will get the message.

you are more mature than this. "arse" and "shite" were not allowed on regular TV 15 years ago. Now you hear it all the time in regular programing. Those words are becoming more and more accepted as not being as vulgar. Language changes. they are just not on the level as Sucking a Tigers dick anymore.

While this is true, 15 years ago people all over the stadium were saying "Kick Their arse" after big first downs (especially against Auburn and Florida), and the a-hole chant was NOT new in the mid nineties. This was all happening while those words were completely banned on TV. Most of our games weren't on TV back then and they were just happy to have us there so they let it slide. It has to do with LSU's success more than the degree of vulgarity, imo.

You guys also can't tell me you don't remember a few rousing renditions of the "Rip Rip Rip" chant from the 90's! THAT is freakin' offensive and we never got in trouble for it.

This can't be. The students on this board always argue that all tickets are used the students just all crowd into the lower sections and it just looks like there are seats open.

How many from the rest of the stadium werent used? a lot more. Look im not a student anymore, but the way it used to work was who ever had the most credit hours got first chance to buy tickets. Those are people who usually dont go to games anymore or buy the tickets to just try and sell them to make money off of. the kids that are younger and would actually go to the games probably didnt get to buy tickets. Atleast that was the case when i was a freshman.

id be willing to guess that <20% of them are true coonasses from the bayou. hell probably less than that.

I'm a coonass who was raised, literally on a bayou. However, your figure is probably pretty close. I'd say it's around 10% at the most. I haven't met many other true blue coonasses like myself up here.

Been that way since about 1993 or earlier. Some of the attention has been well-deserved I'm sure, but in other instances very reactionary and overblown.

Well we had the most highly publicized greek death of any public university. Obviously others have come to light since, but ours was a big deal. Not to mention the constant labeling of being the #1 party school then having a kid die isnt good for the university image. Blame SAE and Murphy's.

But yeah id say the school was more slack not only on greeks, but students as a whole before 98. shite the amount of mips they give out these days is ridiculous. You used to have trucks full of kegs lined up on dalrymple, now they will kick your arse out of school if you tried that.

Per the original OP, that article isn't completely accurate. I know the guys, personally, who started many of the vulgar chants and they weren't Greeks.

Pretty much what I thought.

A bunch of sissies get their panties in a twist and target the only people it's still ok to blame everything on: straight upper-middle class white males.

I heard a recruit call some other recruits the N word. I want him kicked off the team. I'M OFFENDED!!!!!! White wine, STAT!!!

Live your lives. No one cares if you heard something that gave your little psyche a boo boo.

The biggest change for the worst was when Louisiana was blackmailed by the federal government to raise the drinking age to 21. Before that, Tiger Band had a keg on every bus to away games. After, even people of age are expelled if caught drinking or even in a location where drinking is likely.

Your anecdotal accounts mean almost nothing because you can't account for every person starting the chants. It's a bigger issue than just the Greeks, they are being used to prove a point.

How much notice did they have before the drug test

I don't know, but the national rep was in town for about 2 weeks. So, less than 2 weeks notice.

Was born here, grew up in GA. When we would come to visit my mom still thought the drinking age was 18. She actually got mad when a restaurant manager wouldnt let me drink a beer with them. lol.

People shouldnt get upset about words. Who decided certain words would be hurtful? Im not up in arms when i here dick, vagina, arse, frick. shite i could care less if someone called me a cracker. Its more than just using words. Just laws in general, just because someone drinks a beer doesnt mean they are going to go run over a child. If an 18 year old is walking around campus drinking a couple of beers they shouldnt be written a ticket and forced to pay the city hundreds of dollars.

This is what happened at UA when block seating was taken away, Pledges are now up in the upper deck but greeks got early enough to claim their rows anyways.

It caused way more fights between GDI's and greeks

On the other hand saban told everyone to stay for all 4 quarters so that happened.

So you're saying that any word or combination of words should be allowed to be yelled in TS?

They already are, they are just targeting a group when in fact it's the whole fanbase that does this. And im sure some people are going to say they never curse and all this, but i sit in sec 302 and hear old ladies yell frick and suck that tiger dick and kick their arse all game long. So they should just ban the fans.

But your rt, they should stop it now unlike another certain university that just let shite slide for decades.
