I think a major point is that it represents badly apon LSU, not that kids are hearing cuss words at a football game

This is ridiculous

1. The chanting needs to stop
2. The greeks are the easiest to pinpoint therefore LSU is using us as the guinea pig knowing it's a whole student body problem.
3. Taking away reserved seatings is not the answer
4. Many of the non-greek students aren't involved in extracurricular activities. Therefore, it's harder for a leadership position to funnel down the information and give them consequences.
5. I'd bet many non-greeks would keep chanting STTDB just to take away greek tickets.
6. LSU needs to force 10-15 cops to escort 50-100 students out of the stadium if seen yelling. If caught, your football tickets for the year would be suspended. I really believe this would help. I'm sure unattended consequences would follow but LSU has been tip-toeing with the issue way too long.

FWIW, when I went to the Kentucky basketball game, the greeks as a whole weren't the ones screaming STTDB. It was the general student section

Why so much drama over a 30 year old R&B song that Historically Black colleges have been playing for decades without issue?

What is the historic attachment LSU has to this song? I could understand the long tradition behind Tiger Rag , but "Neck"?

Why not just have the band stop playing it instead of all the drama?

Are they now doing acapella versions now without the band or something?

That's not really where I'm going with this. I'm just curious if people that think it's okay to yell STTDB have a limit on what they think is okay to yell.

To clarify: the issue isn't IMO people yelling, it's organized group chants with vulgarity. That may have been what you meant but wanted to distinguish.

. STTDB is asking or demanding that a person perform oral sex on a Bengal Tiger. Just making sure that's clear.

sounds so funny when you phrase it like that. Moreso than the actual chant.

I still think the end result is the same. I'm just curious if the people that think it's okay to yell STTDB would yell (or group yell) other things like rape or other things. Usually I ask the question and people don't respond or give me justifications for STTDB without answering if there's a limit.

"We frick Goats in the a-hole!!"

I wanted to clarify because the issue in these discussions seems to always get clouded by what any random person might yell vs groups. The confusing seems to be done by those that support STTDB to act like those opposing STTDB are trying futilely to regulate every random comment. To me, a huge difference.

I wonder whether people realize how ridiculous it sounds. "Hey ladies and gents! You see that Bengal Tiger over there?! Would you be so kind as to perform the sexual act of fellatio on him?! I'm sure he'd enjoy the release! Thanks gents!"

I really don't care one way or the other. Anyone I have brought to games from opposing fans just laugh and say thats crazy.

Crazy is LSU.

But it does come off a little trashy.

All of them also said that they never saw a change from hospitality to hostility near the level when you enter TS.

So there is that.

It's weirder than that.

The chantors sometime seem to take on the persona of the Bengal tiger and forcefully tell the other team/fans to fellate them, as a punishment, which doesn't speak very highly of their own desirability not to mention the homoerotic view when stated by a male to another man.
When female LSU fans chant it, things get even more strange.

Otherwise, which Tiger dick are they referring to? Mike is is his cage, surely not in any position to receive oral sex. Mike the mascot does not have an actual stuffed penis.

So there's a tiger cock somewhere, and they want the other team to locate it and, apparently, suck on it.

If they're being figurative, then one must imagine that there is an imaginary tiger cock to be forcefully sucked, like, floating around the stadium.

Exactly!

I've asked this as well because when I describe it the way I do, I get the defensive "it's not meant to be taken as literal!".

Well then I'm not sure what message they're trying to convey and it seems like there would be more creative ways to get a point across.

I think it sounds badass even intimidating. I hate STTDB because it is 1) trashy and 2) so stupid and childish that it takes away from the effect. It's like we're going to play a loud heavy rally song but then chant something a 9th grader would find cool.
