You could make a decent lick doing fireworks twice a year. I think you need a permit to buy from a wholesaler or find someone who can buy.
Maybe get some Christmas trees from NC and sell them down here for 2.5x.
I know people who have done both of the above. Your life will suck for 2-3 weeks but might be worth it depending on your situation.

Damn. My idea was a place for amateur hit men operatives to take jobs from customers looking for resolutions to their problems emanating from other people creating them undue stress. Great way to break into the business. Plus you can get the service on a time bid and probably at an affordable price.
SVU stole my idea .

The girl who comes once a week to clean my parent's house charges $125 for a couple hours work. She hits three houses a day, you do the math. I'm about 95% certain she doesn't report any of it either. Not bad for somebody with a high school education and no skills.

Not really a side hustle, but more of a hobby I sometimes make a little extra cash.
I restore older (borderline antique) hand tools bought from estate/garage sales. Mainly old rusty Stanley/Record Bailey handplanes. A good nothing-special #4 plane cleaned up, sharp, tuned, and ready to use goes $40-60 on EBay after shipping costs. I’ll also occasionally pickup an old rusty disston- but those are hit or miss.
It’s not great money for the time ($10-20/hour if I had to guess). But hand tool woodworking is a hobby of mine, so I have experience with working/tuning these. And I really enjoy giving these old tools new life. Something about these being in some former craftsman’s arsenal a century ago (up until the big coming of power tools). I restore and keep for my collection or give away to family/friends who have an interest.
I also pick up old mowers, trimmers, washing machines/dryers from the curb. Clean them up and get them working. easy resell. Especially spring/early summer.
9/10 just need a carb clean and new gas lines (or a new $15 cheap knockoff carb).
Depends on what you find. I don’t go purposefully looking/hunting through neighborhoods. Just stop if something catches my eye, give it a look over.

I have a neighbor who does junk hauling on the side. You got junk, he'll come pick all that shite up for you and haul it off and dispose of it, for a very reasonable fee. Great gig in suburban areas. His only advertisement is going to all the HOA's in the area and getting on their facebook pages to pimp his service quarterly, I'm sure for a fee to the HOA's to allow his spam.

I have a friend that used to do the same but on old grills. Some shitty rusted out neglected junk grill posted for free on FB Marketplace, he'd go get it, clean it up, resell on FB and make money. It was a side hustle, he had a good paying corporate job, he just liked restoring them. Cheap parts + labor of love = a couple hundred bucks in side cash.

I’ve done Uber at certain times. With bonuses and surges it was good money.
It’s gotten worse with more and more people driving which is driving rates down and with the electric rental cars that get preferential treatment .
I might do it again around the PGA tournament and Jazzfest.
Cutting grass is a great money maker, but I’ve gotten too old and lazy. The two olde ladies across the street pay $45 each for some guy to come by. I could easily grab those two and a few others on my block.

I’ve heard good things from guys who sell used mattresses. The mattresses are the ones like Purpl, etc that you buy with a 100 night (or whatever) guarantee. You register with the company and they let you know when a mattress is available for pickup and you decide if you want to get it. You clean it per their specs and then a company advertises it for sale. The mattress companies don’t want to mess with used mattresses.
There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do it - most important thing you need is storage space.
