2904 miles in 26:38
That's an average of 109 mph

The last 4 record breaking attempts knocked nearly an hour (or more) off the previous records.
It makes the record hard to achieve, not impossible. Which is what it always has been.

I made it from morgantown to new orleans in 12 hours solo. Felt like shite for 2 days.

That Atlanta-to-Long Beach run was crazy. I remember standing in my driveway amazed that the sun was still up.

The longer you wait, the harder it gets,
Watch out for ice:
Only 200 miles later upon reaching Gallup, New Mexico the duo encountered their worst fear: snow and ice. Just 100 miles later in Flagstaff disaster almost struck when after cruising at speeds of up to 125mph, Gurney spotted ‘glare ice’. With only a twitch of the steering wheel, he kept the big V12 under control with only a twitch of the tail with Yates saying “only he (Gurney) will ever know how far beyond the ragged edges we had travelled.”

How do they “prove” this? Like what type of technology is used to prove that they didn’t load it into a plane and fly it. Ed references how he like looked at their tracking, so I assume there is some way.

They record their gps data along the way

I’m loving Ed bleeding his vag all over this. Doesn’t matter they took advantage of the situation and set the fastest time. No asterisk, no nothing they have the record. It’s like saying Ed’s previous record wasn’t legit because he used Waze and Waze wasn’t available in 1970.

Apparently sub 26 hour has now been completed.
Per ed 7 records fell in 5 weeks.
Can't wait to hear all the stories

If 7 records were broken, wonder how many attempts were made?

Not all were the coast to coast cannonball. Apparently he means things like diesel record, coast2coast2coast, etc
Ed doesn't seem as bitter now, think he didn't know the 26:38 people so he was a little put off. Also seems like he knew some of his friends were going to try it before that record.

I agree, it's just my theory but I think he is closer to the new record holder(s) so he ok with it a little more. Realistically he knew at some point his would be broken, and he got the due fame for it.
It's interesting though, in the video he says the car he broke the record and the one Arne & Doug broke it in were in their respective garages. Leaves it open to say maybe one of them have a different car????
