Dude, you actually think that Anthony Fauci and the Surgeon General are incompetent to the level that they would say that masks don't work?

You don’t seek to understand the flow of information within the medical community.

The simplest answer is they made recommendations based off of the information available to them at the time, as well as to prevent the public from going into a panic.

Everyone involved in these processes are human, and they certainly make mistakes. Fauci has addressed this exact issue.

But also, what is your point? Because they got it wrong in the beginning, that masks are unnecessary? Are you choosing to just throw everything out of the widow that they say, because they got it wrong in the beginning? Even if the recommendations being made today are backed up by dozens of institutions across the planet?

I mean what the frick are we talking about here?

There is no new research. These people are virus experts. They know that masks work. They lied to the American people, intentionally.

Didn’t see this part. Didn’t scroll down. Ok man, that’s cool.

Trump certainly shoulders a ton of blame then.

This is why the legislature or whomever needs to step up and bar COVID related civil suits

They will be EVERYWHERE and a nightmare to prevent

If these are blocked we can go about our lives using common sense.

If these are allowed our society is about to get even more retarded doing intellectual backflips

WE WERE ORIGINALLY TOLD WE COULD NOT AVOID IT - JUST FLATTEN MUH CURVE!!1!

This is why we were screaming at the retards moving the goal posts. Are yall getting it now?

Trump: fine frick it

MSM: Are you insane? There’s a virus here. You didn’t do enough. Why didn’t you warn us?

No doubt.

Let’s be clear, I wholeheartedly disagree with bjorn. I don’t believe for one second Fauci and others told Americans to not wear masks when they knew we needed them, just to protect stock.

That’s doesn’t make sense for a thousand economical reasons.

But people want to believe something nefarious is going on.

Trump quite literally referred to Covid as “the Democrats new hoax” for criticizing his downplaying of the virus, which he did. He attempted to appease the markets first and foremost.

fricking Christ, man.

Direct quote from Fauci:

Asked "So, why weren't we told to wear masks in the beginning?"

"Well, the reason for that is that we were concerned the public health community, and many people were saying this, were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply. And we wanted to make sure that the people namely, the health care workers, who were brave enough to put themselves in a harm way, to take care of people who you know were infected with the coronavirus and the danger of them getting infected."

I’m aware of his statement

This was also when they were unsure that the virus could spread when one was not showing symptoms

Which is the point. Once they knew it indeed could spread before showing symptoms, their time changed.

If anything they should have simply said bro wear a mask, just in case. And then revisit once the research showed one way or the other.

That Fauci quote is direct evidence they lied. There is no way to spin it as a lack of knowledge.

Now maybe you can justify it as protecting mask inventories, but at least call it what it is.

Why are you talking about research? There hasn't been any research with regard to covid and masks specifically. We still don't even know for 100% if it's airborne.

What we were talking about was Fauci saying no to masks to protect stock... which he literally admits doing. He says nothing of the research at the time. He talks about PPE availability. That's it.

You can't really deny that was the reason unless you just choose to be in denial.

At the time Fauci said that, we didn't know as much as we do now about how it spreads mostly through aerosol droplets. Recall much of the focus was on surfaces. Plus, as others have pointed out, we were worried about mask and other PPE shortages for frontline health care workers.

This is a continually evolving situation. Unfair to judge comments based on earlier knowledge (or lack thereof).

This is the only reason he gives. He had a chance to save face and blame lack of knowledge and research, but he said it was simply a case of PPE shortages. Why don't you believe him?

Fauci admits his motives, and you are defending him using rationale that even he isn't claiming.

So I actually had this shite and I think this is all stupid, but that’s the antibody test to see if you have the antibodies to it. Not the test to see if you have it. Either learn to read or quit posting shite you see on Facebook.

I certainly don’t subscribe to the thought that we should all be sheltering in place and wearing hazmat suits when we must be in public, but on the other hand, we do each have a responsibility to those around us to not be negligent.

The behavior described here goes beyond negligence.
