WEST MONROE, La. (KNOE) - If you're looking for a place to retire and you want to stay in Louisiana, West Monroe might be a good spot to choose, according to a new report.

SmartAsset recently released its annual report on the best places to retire in the U.S. In the report, they ranked the 10 best places to retire in Louisiana.

West Monroe came in at number three in the state.

SmartAsset says their assessment includes three factors: tax-friendliness, medical care, and social opportunities.

Does Louisiana still tax retirement income? If so, retirees would do better moving to Mississippi or Florida.

I've been itching to move out of Louisiana for a while now. Kid is 12 so I don't want to upset his applecart now and have a good job but I would have no issue either moving to Houston to finish my career or move to L.A. (Lower Alabama) or Florida as soon as possible.

I was gonna make a smart arse comment, but after thinking about it if you have nothing to do and you want nothing to do, then West Monroe definitely checks those boxes.
