Why is anybody surprised that the human body, which evolved over millions of years of scarcity, wants to pack on fat?

Both my SO and her sister were egging me on to try out all of their various foods that I did not want, so I kept refusing. It happened enough that the sister's SO said "wow, guys, the guy doesn't want to eat any of that so let him do him, damn!"
Man we do not hang around in the same crowds. Every man for himself when my friends and I go out to eat.

It's the perspective of "it's not hard", "I'll I do is _____ ...and have no issues"....so you must be doing way more if you are having problems.
I see your point, and understand it. But I don't think the intention is always, "I work hard and you must not". I think most people realize everyone is going to be a little different. But, I've been around a few friends who have struggled with weight their entire lives. They have never been diligent and completely changed their lifestyles. They know every dieting concept. They've read every study. Yet when it comes down to it, they fall off the wagon. I'm that kind of person, although luckily, I'm never that overweight (and maybe I can thank genetics).
But the thing some people don't realize is there are a lot of people that actually do put in that extra work. There are those people going to the gym burning 700 calories a day. Those people may be shooting for perfection instead of dropping a few pants sizes, but when they hear someone complain about not even being able to get to a healthy weight, they see it as an excuse.
About to go put in my hour. 6 miles, about 650 calories. Cancel out that lunch I ate. I know there's more factors that make it difficult for some people, but that's sedentary metabolism. I will burn calories while running and being on a deficit will cause me to lose weight eventually.

If people thought about food like $$$=calories counting down from $100 everyday it would be extremely simple.
ding ding ding....fat people must be stupid since the answer is this easy....every fat person must have an IQ of 80!
Otherwise they'd be able to fix that enormous burden that they carry with them everyday and the sneers and jeers of everyone else around them. All they have to do is think $$=calories..tah dah...and the issue that has consumed their life for the years magically disappears!!!

No one but you has referred to fat people as stupid. We aren't talking about rocket science here. Most people know when a food is healthy or not, it's whether or not they choose to eat healthy.
Yes, some people have to be more strict with their diet than others. Get the hell over it. If you want to lose weight, you know what to do. But you'd rather make excuses than do it.
Hopefully all this typing you are doing to complain about other people despite the fact that the real problem is you is burning a few calories though.

And I've seen the handicapped shopping carts at Walmart full of junk food, and I'm not saying that disdain for fatness is completely warrantless, nor am I giving people an excuse for not trying.
