I think its a stretch to compare the two.

Not everyone can learn biochemistry and microbiology. Barring some factor that prevents weight loss, everyone can learn to eat right and lose weight.

i'll tell you one thing that annoys me

if you say no to sweets, people take that shite PERSONALLY

part of it is that so many of our celebrations have sweets related to them in some way, and part of it seems to be a "oh you think you're better than me?" response

People tend to take the whole saying no to food personally period, like you are insulting them for not eating what they are eating.

My best friend at work is a perfect example of this. This is a guy who used to work out like crazy and knows what it takes to get to below 10% body fat, yet when he ask me to go to lunch and I respond that I brought mine, he gets pissed. Like its the end of the world. Calls me a fig and says I have a disorder etc etc etc. Its annoying as hell.

And its not just him that does it and its not just to me. We have a guy that goes to the gym at lunch and he happens to be our Construction Manager. He doesn't do this when we are busy or he has work to do, yet he has had complaints filed against him over it. In the end the complaints were blown off, but its the principle that somebody would be so "offended" that somebody goes to the gym at lunch that blows my mind.

And this happens throughout the entire world.

Hell my office encourages it. There's a gym next door to us that offers a discounted rate to our employees. Pretty nice benefit, but it's not conducive to the kind of workouts I enjoy so I don't take advantage.

I work with a lady that does this allll the time.

She ordered pizza one night at work. I didn't ask her to order it and even told her I didn't want to chip in because I brought my lunch with me. She still orders pizza and gets all huffy at me when she sees me eating my food ("But I told you I was ordering pizza!"). This is the same woman that eats like crap all the time at work...yet will post a million fb statuses when she gets 10k steps on her fitbit. Yes...she is also very much overweight.

IDGAF what other nerds eat.

People seem to get upset when I don't want or eat certain things.

They see me #Gainz'n, and they get mad.

Don't even care.

Jones everyone can pass basic chemistry they just might need to hire 10 tutors and study for 12 hours per day for a few years and they can pass the class. The issue is that they're not committed enough to do what it takes to get the results.

Well my work friend I was talking about is way way overweight now. Like a total fat arse. So usually when he starts I just stand up and hit a double bicep pose and he gets pissed and walks off. Its a complete douche move on my part, but it pisses him off bad and he leaves me alone so whatever works.

Im talking about the knowledge needed for each.

To pass a hard class like biochem, you need to absorb a large amount of information and be able to apply the info. Learning to eat right takes very little brain power. Basically no brain power is required compared to the biochem class

I kinda get what Kujo is saying.

He's saying some naturally have a higher aptitude for certain things. He's comparing the relationship between intelligence and acquiring knowledge to natural body makeup and weight management.

Some bodies are naturally better suited to manage weight than others.

Changed my eating habits in January following this guide and Im down 15 lbs to date. Only eat when Im hungry and calories out are greater than calories in everyday. Less than 50g of carbs a day and they are healthy crabs.

It is hard as hell living in Louisiana to not eat rice or bread or pasta but its a personal choice that I can live with most of the time*!

This is a lifestyle change, not a short term diet.

well honestly that is one of the biggest reason people get pissed in my office. I control about 75% of the financials and pretty much say when we can go to lunch as an office. We are slow now so I cut off the daily ritual of going to lunch and doing an expense report for it. We are just too slow right now to allow this and most people are either too cheap or too stupid to understand this and that the company is under no obligation to pay for their lunch.

But even when I say no to going with vendors some get mad. which again could be fear that the vendor will stop coming to take them if I don't go or it could just be jealousy, i dunno.

Me controlling the financials though pisses a lot of people off though because it used to be a free for all with nobody giving a shite.

yea everyone is different but it doesnt take much to know what you can and cant eat to be a certain weight. it just comes down to wanting to do it.

someone can want to pass biochem with an A all they want but they just dont have the brain power to do it.

Yikes. I do not envy you there - crappy position to have. I don't mean that as an insult, I just wouldn't want to have to be the bad guy in the office.

the fit person is someone who has taken every pre-rec for biochem and is well prepped to take the class

the fat person is someone who has never taken a chemistry class until switching majors. Is struggling, gets a tutor and crams for a test. They end up passing but do not retain any knowledge. End up forgetting 90% of the stuff they learned over Christmas break while they drink and eat themselves stupid again.
