This doesn't jive with Obamas statistics. Can't be correct.

But when it comes to the most lethal form of force — police shootings — the study finds no racial bias.

What color was the paper it was printed on? It was white......racist!!!

The real slogan should be "Male Lives Matter" - 94% of those killed by the police in 2015 were men. That is the most overrepresented group no matter how you slice it.

The biggest problem for mass hysteria imo is social media. I had a frkend who was talking about how crime is in general, and that its tol high and its soooo much worse than we were young. I was intrigued. From what I could find, if the source was accurate and reliable, crime today is no way worse than it was in the past. And its certainly not on a steep incline as many tend to believe

Why does it seem that way then? Social Media. Very few people watch the news. Back then a killing haplened, it was on the news. You were only aware if you saw on the news, newspaper, or word of mouth... Now as soon as you get on fb, or even TD you learn about 10 different shootings that happened in the past week alone.

I do believe crime is too high as it is, and the world is nowhere near as sife as I would like. But its not as bad as it seems.

I've always been of the "Police officers need to work on escalating force as a last resort"

If we can expect call center employees to take verbal abuse for minimum wage, I would hope our police force can be a professional above the sewage they sometimes deal with.

ETA:
I know a few police officers, they talk about hot heads in their department who are quick to take things to the next level. Those are the people I'm talking about tha tneed some work done

I'd rather no abortions occur save for those in cases of rape/incest or when the mother's life is at stake.

The fact that a 12-13 percent segment of the population accounts for such a glaring proportion of abortions should be alarming to everyone, though.

At that rate, they will always remain a small percentage of the population.

FYI, as of 2010 black women have a "total projected fertility" rate of 1.97 compared to 1.79 for white women. In essence that is the total projected births per woman of each race. A rate of anything less than 2.1 indicates a sub-replacement rate, meaning the population will actually decline. The only race in American higher than 2.1 is hispanic women with a rate of 2.35 births per woman.

I did not read the article so it may suggest this but if not, here it is.

The infographics going around about 400+ white people being killed compared to 200+ black people by conservatives. The democrats add in well black people are only 10% of the population. Yada yada.

The better way to look at is this: compare death rates to number of stops/interactions by race. If black people are stopped at the insane rates that they make it seem like they are, say 100 times the rate of white people, how does that effect the numbers?

After reafing the article, this is the big thing that needs to be addressed imo.

quote:

As an economist, Mr. Fryer wonders if the difference between lethal force — where he did not find racial disparities — and nonlethal force — where he did — might be related to costs. Officers face great costs, legal and psychological, when they unnecessarily fire their weapons. But excessive use of lesser force is rarely tracked or punished. “No officer has ever told me that putting their hands on inner-city youth is a life-changing event,” he said, contrasting the consequences of shootings and lesser uses of force.

For Mr. Fryer, who has spent much of his career studying ways society can close the racial achievement gap, the failure to punish excessive everyday force is an important contributor to young black disillusionment.

“Who the hell wants to have a police officer put their hand on them or yell and scream at them? It’s an awful experience,” he said. “I’ve had it multiple, multiple times. Every black man I know has had this experience. Every one of them. It is hard to believe that the world is your oyster if the police can rough you up without punishment. And when I talked to minority youth, almost every single one of them mentions lower level uses of force as the reason why they believe the world is corrupt.”

This affects a part of the argument that is completely getting glared over. I'm not naïve to the fact that blacks are definitely treated differently when it comes to traffic stops. I think there's a higher percentage that are going to get searched, etc.. I think the percentage of white kids with weed in the car who get let go without the cops suspecting anything is much higher than black kids. In the end though, don't have drugs on you and there is no issue.

But that has nothing to do with cops deciding a black life isn't a big deal and they can just execute them. When you try to make that leap as if everything that took place in between (resisting, having a weapon, etc.) doesn't matter because racist, then you lose all legitimacy.
