Student suspended for Confederate flag clothing

PLUM, PA (WTAE/CNN) – One student’s hoodie, which featured the Confederate flag in its design, got him suspended from his high school.
Noah Leech says he’s worn the hoodie to class dozens of times, but this week, it prompted complaints, leading to his dismissal from school Friday. One of Leech’s classmates, Desiree Ulmer, says she wasn’t offended by the hoodie but instead by students’ response to the incident.
"I had no problem with the kid wearing it at first because I never see the kid. The kid never affected me in any type of way, but when more people decided to come to school wearing the Confederate flag, at that point, it was like, ‘OK, this is getting a little too disrespectful for me,’" Ulmer said.
Leech says that in spite of his suspension, he won’t stop wearing the hoodie.LINK

Sounds like he should go to ole miss. That kind of stuff doesn't fly in the northeast.

Did they ask him to stop before just suspending him?

I mean frick, I couldn't wear any sports related stuff due to potential gang affiliation. I can't imagine what would have happened if someone wore a confederate flag to my school.

It's amazing people give a frick so much about shite like this.

This is why I always chose to represent the Epyx flag on Summer and Winter Games.

They should wear the stars and bars, no one knows what it is.

Why has the rebel flag turned into Che shirt for rednecks?

I remember my D.A.R.E. instructor telling us we shouldn't wear Colorado Rockies hats because the CR logo could mean "Crips Rule"

I support her freedom of speech

I have no problem with this. Schools have the right to squelch "free speech" if such speech causes a hostile learning environment.
However, what I do have a problem with is, if a Mexican illegal student showed up to school at say, Highland Park HS in Dallas (99 percent white)... wearing a Mexican flag and causing consternation... the white liberals would be tripping all over themselves about how it's a free-speech issue and how whitey should just get over it.

This is why a lot of schools have just adopted uniforms, removes all the potential for this.
