That's the purpose of the chanting. The chant leaders (outside agitators) lead the chants and the mob mindlessly parrots them. The leader could say anything and they'd say it back.
A mob is a creature all its own and follows the head,
ETA: although, it might be fun to get a megaphone and go down to one of these and hijack their chants.
