Not gonna lie, the trailer looks like one of those made for TV docs that has some interview and some acting just to project images to the narration.
They had one last weekend that was 3 hours long. Was unreal that they showed their start all the way thru.

I went to that plane crash when I was a kid. It crashed on a family friends land.
That plane is still there. They buried it with a bulldozer. I was there the day they buried it. They didn’t want folks coming to see the plane on their property all the time.
I can remember seeing personal items all over the ground. I didn’t have the sense of mind to pick anything up. I was 5 or 6 at the time,
The band gave a guitar to the son of the family friend. He was one of the folks at the crash first. He was playing it on the porch when we pulled up.

The Freebird live video from San Francisco around 1977 is one of the greatest on YouTube.

If you are having a really bad day, pull up Freebird and let the guitar solo release all your tension. Best drug I ever had.

Two nights. Two Lynyrd Skynyrd threads. I wonder if we will get a third tomorrow?

What, no spoiler alert? Thanks a lot a-hole.

Quite a few bands/individuals were as good or better musically
Who was better musically? Allman Brothers consistently had some of the greatest guitarists of all time. All the way up until they broke up a few years ago

Now that I’m an adult the only skynyrd song with any substance is the one about concrete

What? He didn't mention that if the landing gear would have been up the plane would not have taken a nose dive and most of not all would have survived.

I have never heard the plane was buried. I wondered how they hauled it all off. I hunted on land very close to that site but never knew it was there. Past it going down PP road 100 times.

They don't discuss all of the survivors. I used to know a guy that was on the plane. I knew him after the crash but he never spoke of it to me. He is a good guy who lived and worked hard.
Some twink plays him in the movie. It is like casting Justin Bieber to play Coach O.

Meh.........although I'll check it out, the one I link below is pretty damn good. It's 28 minutes long, but is heartfelt and telling. I won't get into a pissing contest about whether or not they were the GOAT Southern Rock band and all that, I just know I loved and still love their music.
Survivors first hand accounts and story of plane crash
eta: and to elcid who posted above, yeah, that Oakland show and their live performance of Freebird there is pretty awesome to watch to this day.

I get the need to hype things but the poster showing a DC 3 with an engine fire going down is dead wrong. It was a fuel starved Convair 240 a larger aircraft, and engines don't burst into flames when the fuel tanks are empty.
I'll watch it regardless a great, iconic Southern Rock band.
Mr Breeze....

Ronnie was a much, much better songwriter than Gregg and Dickey. I think, however, that the ABB was able to meld a lot more genres in to an authentic sound - just listen to In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Mountain Jam, or Hot 'Lanta, for example - and possessed greater musical cohesiveness. Their initial run with Duane and Berry alive, though, left a bit to be desired in terms of original work - but what they did put out (ESPECIALLY live) beats the dogshit out of any other band I've ever heard.
Too bad you can’t marry ABB.
