We just left the food outside but picking it up after they eat is better. Our little bug-eating stray would defend her bowl from other cats. She would shred the crap out of them. But if a possum came along she would let it eat and look at it like it was an alien.

Maybe you’ll have the same done to you.

Spayed unless it’s a tranny cat.

billions.
and while they're decimating the native wildlife because they're an invasive species, they're also spreading toxoplasmosis when they bury their filthy shite in your garden soil.
for the love of god op'er, get the filthy thing fixed, and for the people who want to let their cats run wild, then declaw them so native wildlife has some semblance of a chance against fefe's indiscriminate, useless killing.
my tolerance for feral housecats is extremely low, and we'd be better off to treat them like Australians in the outback are having to nowadays by eradicating every one we see. if there's one upside, at least they make for a decent food source for the coyotes and bobcats, even though the amount of animals housecats kill far outweighs the benefit of them being a food source.

Getter her spayed will also help with any neighbor problems. Ours stay around the house now that they are fixed. I was spending 300 dollars every time the sucker got hurt in a fight.

So get rid of the cats only defense?

Simple as that. Cat likes your place and goes outside to do her business. Feed her and be done with it. Don't leave food out, though, then you'll have more cats.
Get some Advantage or something like that for flea control, make sure she's fixed and enjoy your new pet.
This is the correct answer. Get her spayed if she hasn't been already, and enjoy your new pet. At the bare minimum, get her spayed and enjoy your new curious shop companion that does a helluva job keeping mice, rats, and bugs away.
I was never a cat person until I took in a stray that became easily the most loyal pet I've ever had - several dogs included. It's not "cool" to be a guy that likes cats, but they can be some awesome and entertaining pets and fiercely loyal; especially if you're a male with a female cat you raised from its youth and gained its trust.
I had a Siamese mixed kitten that wandered up to my back porch one night many many years ago, and I decided to take care of her because she was cold, wet, dirty, and obviously hungry. That cat turned into the most loyal pet I've ever owned and would defend me to her death even at her ripe old age now. She's very protective of me especially, but also my wife and 1 year old son. If I were a stranger I'd honestly rather meet my 95lb goofy arse German shepherd in the backyard than her
TLDR - cats can make great, loyal pets, even if you're just wanting a mostly hands-off relationship with them. Give them a home and a little attention and affection and they'll be your buddy for life

Yeah. I don’t think I’d declaw an outside cat. Seems sort of mean. I’ve never been a big cat guy but I know it’s an FAFO situation if you got a cat to scratch you.

We have a neighborhood cat that hangs out between my house and a couple other neighbors houses. We take turns looking after him and feeding him.
He’s fixed and doesn’t bother us, but he let you near him and he won’t come near you. I have no issues with him
On another note, a few years ago I had a coon that kept shitting in my pool on the top step, so I put out a trap
Well I ended up catching a mean arse evil black cat. This fricker was so damn mean I wouldn’t even pick up the trap with my hands. Had to use a broom handle to pick the damn cage up bc that devil was trying to kill me through the cage
Once I got to the SPCA, the 2 black woman took some info from me, grabbed the cage, wearing some thick arse leather gloves, told me to hang tight, they would be right back.
They walked straight to where the incinerator was located, a few minutes later the brought me my empty cage.
Hopefully that cat is in cat hell.

We lost our house cat because it ran out the back door at night and we didn’t see her. She was chipped but never got a call.

When we get this one fixed they’ll check.
Half calico and half gray tabby? Get your arse to Katy and get your cat. She’s got a new bed and blanket and half a bag of meow mix. It’s yours.

Buy an animal trap from Lowes. Put a can of cat food in it. Haul trapped cat to a place far away. Release cat. Problem solved
