My grandmother was in a coma for nearly a week because of a brain tumor. Just before she passed, she opened her eyes and recognized my uncle. Things do happen. What they mean is open to interpretation. Nobody knows what really happens except the people making the transition.

I have heard of many instances where people seem to get better before death...all their pain seems to go away and a peace comes over them.

I'm no detective, but someone needs to watch that cat. Maybe it's not a sweet as you think.

My brother in law died when I was in high school after a battle with cancer. I was with him on his final night, as was a large group of family. About 30 minutes before he quit breathing, he sat up and pointed towards the bathroom which was across the room and asked everyone if they saw the angel. He slowly laid back down, closed his eyes, and never said another word.

I'm not religious and am agnostic, but he was very much so. The biggest part of me wants to say it's just something that happens near death occasionally, where people's brains will become hyperactive, causing them to see things. But I'm also open to the idea the "something" else could be there that we aren't capable of seeing - like another dimension or something.

Ok, so we've had 100+ billion deaths on this planet and the only thing we have to show for it is a shitty unsolved mysteries series, Michael J Cock's fake broken arse glass video, and a dumb dog barking at his shadow

I guess the question to ask is, is there ever any people who don't believe in God who see God or angels or whatever and have similar interesting stories just before death?

My dad was in some form of a coma (medically induced or not) with a breathing tube for his last month.

He snapped completely out of it for a week to turn power of attorney and tie up other loose ends for my mom/family before he went, then proceeded to go back in the coma and died a week later.

The day of his death he most definitely managed to telepathically send me a message about the afterlife. In the midst of his medically induced coma and full of powerful drugs, he became completely lucid, eyes wide open, looked at me straight in the eyes and communicated something to me without being able to speak. I will not repeat it bc it will be misinterpreted overanalyzed here. But something happens after death, I assure you.

As I have told you guys in past posts, I ran a Hospice for a while. I will have to say that becoming lucid, and speaking and recognizing people after a long period of being in what seems to be a coma, is not very unusual at all. What is unusual here is the terror thing. It is usually a happy, or neutral experience. People do see loved ones, dead pets, groups of people. Some may ask, as my Father -In-Law did, for the party in the other room to quiet down. There was no party, but he sensed a group and he had been sleeping for days before he started talking about that, and other sensations/family member sightings.
Not too sure what the lady in this story sensed, but she obviously interpreted it as scary. I don't know if she was religious, but I have found that those that believe in a power greater than themselves are much calmer at the end than those who do not, for whatever reason. I am not religious, so this is not me witnessing to ya'll, it is just what I have observed in Hospice patients.
Now the dog thing actually happened with my Grandmother, and all 3 of her Yorkies went crazy. That is a long story, but was very interesting.
Bottom line is, I do not know what she saw, but "waking up" and seeing people, or other visual sites, is not unusual at all.

Good question.. And of those people that don't believe, did they at one time? Do they question their beliefs or lackthereof? Dying is a pretty scary event, I'm sure, so it's only natural IMO that your imagination will run wild.

Me personally, I'm trying to view it as an adventure into the unknown, I guess to make it as "fun" as possible. No reason being terrified over an inevitable event.

That really seems like a tease, and I'd like to know more, but I also understand your desire to keep a private moment private.

If you choose to share, awesome. If not, sorry for the cynical culture of the internet.

My biggest question is why does one have to be knocking on death's door to see this other dimension if in fact this is happening? Soon we will be able to induce death and revive the person and really figure out WTF is going on.

Scariest part about life IMO. Whether you're religious or not, I hope there is some ability to carry on in some capacity after death because everything simply ceasing to exist and your consciousness ending is terrifying to me. I think the fear comes from the unknown - you won't know until you're dead, and once you're dead you won't be able to tell anyone.
