Someone on Storncast posted that the Townhome apartments off of LA 308 in Lockport one of the units lost part of roof.

Sounds entirely possible. Lady of The Sea General Hospital in Cutoff did too. They’re evacuating the few patients they had.

Unfortunate that Louisiana doesn’t have mountains on the coast like Yucatán.

I’ve always said we need to create landfills off the coast. They’re stinky giant hills, but they would take a lot of the brunt of a storm. May even catch some sediment.

Power outages continue to skyrocket for Louisiana as Hurricane #Ida slowly moves onshore.

An hour ago around 100k were without power in LA –– right now the state is reporting nearly 300k outages with some coastal counties >80% out.

Expect these numbers to keep climbing. LINK

The craziest thing during hurricanes is how right before a big gust all the cracks and gaps in the doors buzz really loud. It’s a huge buzz then the wind gusts. I guess it’s a pressure thing.

Crack the windows on the opposite side of the house getting the direct hit from the winds.

Washington parish sheriff just told us not to be on the streets after the storm. I don’t get this mindset. If you’ve chosen to be a first responder why can’t you just do your job?
