Okay I need a serious update, what is the best guess on exactly where she is going to come ashore?

I fricked up and looked at buoy data and have given myself hope.

Is it still slightly east around the GI area or closer to Houma?

I know this is a dumb question but are there really 40 people who stayed behind on GI?

Grand Isle cam is about to get into the eastern eye wall which is why it's escalating so quickly

Looks like the current changed direction on the GI cam. Oh yea it for sure has. That's surge coming in.

WFAA Weather Center streaming on YouTube… lady just said storm was making landfall at Port Fortune in Lake Charles Parish, which is just southeast of Lake Charles. I feel sorry for people of Lake Charles… thought y’all were out of the woods, but they moved y’all right next to Fourchon overnight. At least they gave y’all your own parish as compensation.

News is always right.

Does anyone who evacuated from recent major storms like Laura know if/when FEMA will provide any kind of financial assistance for hotel/lodging? My last major storm was Katrina. Evacuating with a family of 5 + pet is going to get expensive really fast. I have enough for a week or two but if this ends up being like Katrina, it will be tough.

Try reaching out to the homeowners insurance first before FEMA

Most people in GI are staying in the storm shelter with the police chief and they have bathrooms and running water.

The Houma, golden meadow, GI, and Donaldsonville areas are going to look like Laura’s wrath. It’s going to be a very rough recovery.

Grand isle may never come back

The police chief said 5 firemen, 9 officers and 5 reserves. I hope they are included in the 40 count. Less civilians to have to rescue.
