Why
Apparently the hurricane hunters had to go back due to mechanical issues with the plane. He said it has happened multiple times this hurricane season and is getting ridiculous.

I hardly watch the local channels anymore so as I was switching around for the hurricane coverage it was good to see Kim Holden. She has held up very well over the years.

I think they are sending the mission 10 plane in for another round due to the mechanical issues on the mission 11 plane

They get over 15” of rain like some maps I have seen and you will have massive flooding

Depending on the time frame that might not really happen. The levee system, prehistoric as it is, was designed for this much more than the flash rain events that dump a ton of water onto the city in a very sport span.

It is really, when you think about it. The water in that area is already pretty warm at the surface, but then you think that if you dive deep, 100ft+ down, it is still just as warm.

A hurricane can churn over the same water for hours and never mix enough cool water to the surface to have a negative impact on it.

I'm interested to see if it will take advantage DMAX and all that warm water. If that eye fully closes off, there's really nothing stopping it.
But what’s stopping it now? It’s not really ‘taking off’ like some are saying. It looks to be just a steady state. I really think it will under perform on intensity the way it looks at this point. I’m also of the opinion the NHC will have no choice but to back down on their intensity forecast the next advisory, in my opinion, which would be hopeful news.

Uh, this will be a flash rain event. 3-4” of rain falling per hour

My LA emergency management dream team:

Fed: Bill Clinton (would turn on Federal dollars for just about anything)

State: Bobby Jindal (terrible but good at crisis response)

Local: Kip Holden (do I even have to say anything? Outfits plus not letting NOLA trash stay in River Center, bus tickets to Houston)

Arlington County (VA) EMS (911 and fire combined, personal note of knowing that crew, they were good. Did lot of 9/11 work and led way in communications).
