Watching radar from La Bajada (long loop courtesy of @BMcNoldy) shows that the eye of #Ida is already preparing to emerge into the Gulf of Mexico.

Inner core structure remains healthy & unfortunately appears poised to intensify further in the Gulf of Mexico.

I know it's a bingo card but...

"Philippe Papin
@pppapin

24 hours ago #Ida was only a 30-kt Tropical Depression. Now that Ida is a 65-kt #hurricane, it implies winds have increased 35-kt in 24 hours, satisfying the definition of "Rapid Intensification."

I’m just wondering at what point are the winds gonna be the strongest in BR/Ascension area, when it’s at landfall at 140mph, or when it get closer proximity with lesser strength?
That seems to be hard and info to find.

I have a serious question if you will all humor me. Will the recent rain in New Orleans cool the waters enough to disrupt Ida?

I think the weather station at the airport recorded 138 mph before it was blown apart.

While our house was having two pin oaks dropped on it, I stood and watched one snatch the top half off of a cypress tree in my in-laws back yard. Was like a giant was pruning the neighborhood
