I debated staying at my camp on Belle River but don’t think my wife likes that idea. I think Belle River will get crushed.
Not sure where home is, but it won't get much worse that Belle River/Pierre Part at this point.
I'm sure my camp in Pigeon will be destroyed. There's no way I'm staying down there.

They’re leaving Mandeville and driving to Natchez, MS. What’s a good route for them to take.
I wouldn’t even try and mess with I-12 to I-55.
My suggestion would be to take US-190 then continue up on Hwy 25 probably up to Franklinton then start heading west to I-55.

My in-laws are in Houma and as of today have decided to stay. Are most people there staying or leaving?
I'd rather not answer, but they're staying from what I see. They're not taking this seriously, and unfortunately many of them will die.

Semi serious question… if you are still there my sister could use some help boarding up a big window. She has 3 kids, youngest 5 months and her husband has covid and has zero energy. She refuses to let me go down and help her.

Trust me every single person that stayed that I know, regretted it, commented how different it was from times before and they would never do that shite again.
One of my friends who is an even keeled, calm, and generally “everything will be fine” type, stayed for Laura with an elderly relative who couldn’t leave. After the storm, his house was the base for us to drink and eat after helping each other at our houses.
I asked him, pretty fricking bad? He looked at me and said yeah, pretty bad. The look on his face said it was on a whole other level.
If you’re in the path, get out man. It ain’t worth it to stay.

This. Go through Amite or Kentwood to get to 55

This was a few hours ago, but it is an IR 3D shot of Ida from Radar Omega:

NOAA has the Cat 4 landfall, but has it as a Cat 1 just south of Baton Rouge

If no once here can, just go if you can and don't have obligations ... she'll appreciate it more than you know.

Houma, I'm getting the frick out. Terrebonne will be under a mandatory evac order. We have never had a storm like this hit here. This is another level.
I only have an Aunt and Uncle still in Houma. They are staying because they have a lot of shrimp in the freezer.

This happens when you haven't been hit by a modern hurricane, or even a legit hurricane, in over 30 years.

Those non-existent merge lanes may be more dangerous than Ida. Be careful.
