how far can I hit one downwind.

Let's put it this way... So far you cannot see it.

I played out here the Friday Ike came in and the wind had already started going steady 30 mph with heavier gusts. Flush 8i into the wind would go 70 yards.

Yup that's what the employees at Restaurant Depot just announced on the intecomm system. They said they were ordered to close at 5 PM

Leaving is hard ... we've done it I think 3 times. It's a desire to want to stay and protect your shite should shtf. It's a desire to just see what nature can do as well I think.

So if you live west of Lafayette, like closer to crowley, should be fine to stay?

I live north and west of Lafayette parish, basically in acadia, I feel pretty comfortable in riding this out.

Has Peej discussed his idea yet of having the military drop a bomb on this Hurricane so it doesn't kill us?

No, but he did respond to an early GFS showing a major storm in south Louisiana by saying "That will not happen". And here we are...

No she said mandatory only for portions outside of levee protection. The rest of the parish is voluntary

Yeah, you're fine for now. A little blustery but nothing too concerning at the moment.

The evacuation in Nola is only for people outside the levee system. Not everyone

In my mind at least, every drive you hit in heaven is in really windy conditions and straight downwind. Congrats on the early look into what it's like up there

It was random but many came home to partially missing roofs and brick walls that collapsed. I can count 3 in my small area. Neighbor lost their roof and had to gut their entire house and do major repairs. Some walked away and sold “as is.” Have friends that stayed in Iowa and had to deal with some of the roof blowing off while they were in their living room. Video of the water pouring in was insane.

It's a personal decision but we're in Perry south of Abbeville and as of now, we're not leaving. I reserve the right to have my husband drag me outta here.

Guy from NWS said you can expect additional evac orders in the next few hours.
