Too many. A lot.

I'm not going to stay if that's the case, but I genuinely don't recall seeing any like that after Laura. I spent two weekends cleaning up all throughout Lake Charles too.

didn't stay but I'm actively involved with repairs. What I've noticed is that it is completely random which homes in a neighborhood made it through and which were destroyed. I'm guessing those homes were hit with tornados. It's really bizarre and puzzling. Those homes that got hit though got rocked. No way would I have wanted to be in those places when they came apart.

Well yeah, neither do I.

A Cat 1 rolling through EBR will knock down a shite load of trees and power. Not good.

I’m just saying this morning people were saying a car 2/3 could be over us.

With young kids I say 100% go. If you are in the bullseye zone get the hell out. I know a person who rode out Laura in Sulphur in a house that got blown apart and he was very lucky to be alive. In fact he wrote out his goodbye letters by candle light that night. His wife and kids left town but he had to stay.

Br may never deal with anything more than cat 1 wind speeds, but keep in mind the wind field will be powerful for longer. BR will be in a category 1 type zone for the better part of a day. The power grid is fricked

Destroyed, maybe not. But at the least your roof will be damaged and all your shite will be wet.

90 mph sustained winds would be the worst BR has ever seen by a wide margin

I think there's more of a risk in you fricking up your windows by nailing or screwing boards in.

Mom's house had 8' of water in it in lakeview (birds streets) - no boarding. only window broken in it was the one by the door the dudes checking for bodies broke to get into the house. If they didnt brake for Katrina they wont brake for anything ever and if they do frick it. seriously. windows will be the least of your problems.

Well my brother built his house in Moss Bluff in I believe 2006 or so ... he had a few shingles missing for Laura but I think only stayed as he works in a hospital and had to be there.

Destroyed is hard to say. 100s were signicantly damaged, if not more

Gotcha.

The plan was always to decide tonight regardless. I prefer to drive at night and I've had shite to pick up and clean around here today.

When folks try to compare storms…

Every storm is individual, e.g.: all Cat 1s are not created equal.

Fighting the last war over again with Hurricanes is a good way to quickly end up dead.

Yeah this metal roof is going to be tested, to say the least.

Luckily there is little to no one in the 20 miles between Houma and Morgan City. Just going to be a lot of really stinky marsh in that area after this thing blows through.
After Hurricane Andrew the stench from the Atchafalaya Basin was terrible even 20 mile west.

You can have bad bad winds it tornadoes and not flooding. This makes zero sense.
