My wife found a singular airbnb in the gulf shores area. I mean there are places that are 700 a night and what not but, no.
And there are roach motels. Everything in between is pretty much booked.

During Katrina, my favorite was the chili mac. Though I did burn the frick outta myself a few times on that heating element.
The MREs are much worse now than the stuff they handed out in 2005. The absence of Tabasco instantly makes them worse.

Somehow a cop survived his whole career in New Orleans only to get gunned down in the Galleria…. Oof.
Would have never happened before Katrina

During my time in the Corps the chili Mac mre was a precious thing

A favorite childhood activity was making bombs out the MRE heating elements and water bottles.
I worked at a shitty finance company near the Gentilly area. We basically had nothing to do all day, but were still required to show up for work. We may or may not have spent a lot of time seeing what one of those mre bombs could blow up behind the building.

Just want to pop in to thank you guys who know what is going on for providing info to us. I know we are a pain in the arse on this board and don’t always seem appreciative.
Duke has talked me off a few ledges during storms since May

If you drop an mre bomb down the exhaust hole on a port-o-potty, it will make the 2nd lt insde come out blue, and also angry

St. Tammany schools are closed Monday. No surprise there.

If you leave, and your area gets hit hard, prepare for flat tires upon your return.
Make sure your jack and spare are good. Get yourself an air pump or tire repair kit. Tire repair could be difficult to find, or might take a long time (days) to get done.
Just some friendly advice I haven't seen mentioned, yet. Good luck to everyone.

Looks like Acadia Parish and Diocese of Lafayette closed as well.....pretty much standard operating procedure.

I found multiple places available around lunch and most not outrageously priced. Booked a two bedroom with two dogs, one being a 114 lb lab. I searched on VBRO and emerald coast by owner. There were many available between destin and Panama City

I got some pretty shitty ones for Laura too. I got one box that 3/4 of the heating packs were duds.

Should we expect a bump to Cat 4 landfall at 4pm? If so that possibly triggers a NOLA mandatory evacuation, I am not sure what distance it takes to trigger it.

Thing I remember about the heating element was the way it smelled while heating up... I'll never forget it...
