Wouldn’t this normally be the tendency for a stronger than expected storm or is there some sort of pressure that’s going to keep it from making the turn?

Covered this. Yes, it would. But the High pressure over NC isn't going to allow that

I think I'm going to Mobile. Biloxi is a little iffy for my liking.

my comment wasn't about you, specifically

but the vast majority of the other people

Nah I get it. I can't believe many others with simple gas generators are staying. I'm on the fence and I have about as good of a set up as you could want, other than that set up actually being in Morgan City.

What’s the best for a garage door? Keep it open or close it? It’s not a wind mitigated door. Not sure it’s even going to matter with this hurricane but figured I’d ask anyway.

A Category tree fiddy hurricane will lose against a high pressure ridge...period. As much in awe as we are about these systems because of their brute power, it's like a fire ant going against a wolf spider. The ant is nasty but it loses every single time to the wolf spider ridge.

24 hours ago #Ida was only a 30-kt Tropical Depression. Now that Ida is a 65-kt #hurricane, it implies winds have increased 35-kt in 24 hours, satisfying the definition of "Rapid Intensification."

If it rapidly intensified with the shear it had I don’t want to see what it’s about to do in the gulf with no shear and the loop current waters

I left mine closed during Laura and it faired OK. I think it depends more on the direction it faces and where the wind is coming from. Not sure I'd leave it open
