wife is an insurance agent..
I can not stress time stamped photos of everything in the house enough.
Take pictures of everything outside too
take a walk through video and a walk around video.
all the pictures and videos you can.
Take pictures of serial numbers etc.
do it and do it now.
My company handles Personal Property claims for several carriers. Im still working losses from Laura and Delta.
This is great advice, but also bad advice if you want to commit fraud by claiming stuff you didnt have, like roughly 25% of our business. Also lock down your social media and delete any photos of stuff in and around your home if you are committing fraud as well. Just handled a Laura loss two weeks ago like this...
Yall stay safe down there.
Im not going to be leaving the office for months again, I'm afraid

I keep hearing horror stories about State Farm from others.
well i have learned alot of that is because of shitty adjusters #1 and #2 many times its because the people complaining dont have any proof.
Thats why i said take pictures and videos of everything, inside and outside.
and also understand all the insurance companies have bad stories on them, but also understand those companies have to try and prevent fraud. State farm has more horror stories because they are the biggest down here.

However, deridder is more inland than BR and they got 90-100 from Laura
Winnfield is 50 miles due north of Alexandria and they got winds clocked at 100 and had complete power outages for a week.
All this is true, I lived in BR during Gustav and in West Louisiana during Laura... The strength of Laura combined with the speed at which it was traveling through its path led areas as far north as Shreveport seeing hurricane force winds. It takes a historically rare set of circumstances for a storm to maintain hurricane force winds that far inland but not an impossibility.

bro...
Lots of the so called horror stories are bullshite like this. or they suddenly are pissed because they want everything upgraded in the house and want it paid for.
not all cases are like that though. i know quite a few that are just straight up getting fricked and had to get lawyer.
its realyl a mixed bag.

This next pass should be interesting. The current convective burst is very intense and has been persistent.

This is where those 30-50 mile changes are meaningful. Overall, no drastic changes but to someone in these areas, these mean the difference between taking it on the chin and being in a more manageable position.
