So what's up with this crazy loop de loop action going on with the models?

If you really want to know and infinitely grow your tropical knowledge, and if you've got 9 minutes, go here and watch the first video on the homepage.

This guy is great. I try to watch his daily or twice daily updates as storms approach.

12z Euro seems to have picked up the pace from the 12z run yesterday.

Today @ 72 hours:

From what I understand about the steering a slight faster storm doesn't lend as much credence to a full loop, but we'll see...

What happened to the loop? That looks like Charleston is about to take it on the chin pretty hard...

My GFs parents live in Stuart and won't evacuate. They are Korean so I don't think the realize the potential devastation that could happen from a Hurricane. How do I convince them?

There is a 70% chance of strong tropical storm winds in Ft. Pierce and a 47% chance of hurricane force winds.

However, considering how far south they currently are and depending on the traffic, it could be safer and more practical for them to head inland and/or even farther south. Heading northward for them is probably a bad idea at the moment. They may be able to wait longer than those farther north before they make a move, but I'm not an expert.

Tell them to take a permanent ink marker and write their name and next-of-kin contact information on each thigh and on the inside of each arm between their wrist and elbow.

That's what people in New Orleans were told to do who refused to evacuate before Katrina.

I just checked and there is a Troy-Bilt XP 7000

Thanks for looking that up. I'm gonna got buy some sea foam and carb cleaner and give it another try this afternoon.

We took hits from three consecutive Hurricanes in 2004 and never lost power. I'm praying my luck hold out this time.

Hurricanes really suck.

Can you convince them by showing them the worst hurricane disaster photos that you can find?? Maybe show them you're putting an ax up in the attic ... that could work.

I just checked into Tifton after evacuating Amelia Island. There are no hotels available anywhere around South GA, they are sending people to Eufala, AL.

Bring them a Sharpie to write their name and address on their stomach so the first responders will be able to identify their bodies.

And go ahead and stick an ax in the attic, to get to the roof later.

The Euro has it moving a little quicker and a slightly deeper trough that pulls it farther NE before the ridge builds back and stops the northern movement and takes it east. The GFS is slightly slower past 48 hours and doesn't forecast as much of a trough but rather a flat west to east steering motion, hence the tighter loop.

Yeah most of the stuff was over my head at first but the more I watch the more I understand with context clues.

I can't tell you what will happen, but I'm getting more comfortable looking at the models and understanding why they forecast what the forecast.

ETA: I know just enough to be dangerous, hence the reason I'm careful not to do anything other than explain something instead of making a prediction.

Just confirmed I have a crew headed to Florida to live stream the storm. They're probably gonna go to Jacksonville.
