That's the way it's looking.

How strong would it be at that point? Still a category 2?

I'm supposed to be driving to Sarasota Thursday night with the family. Weather forecast shows rain on Saturday but nothing severe. Am I insane to attempt the trip?

On a personal note, my damned Generac Generator won't start. I messed with all morning and it is obviously gummed up in the carb. I', screwed if we lose power for a long time. We have a 90 year old granny to worry about. I bought a window unit A/C to keep an area cool for her. No Bueno on that plan.
I'm not sure what other options you have available, but I just checked and there is a Troy-Bilt XP 7000 running watt generator available for pick up in store at the W. Orlando Lowes. $900.

Be ready for your hotel to possibly be full. If power is out for 3 days, they aren't going to kick out evacuees. 8+ million people in Florida are under a Hurricane Warning, with probably close to a million under mandatory evacuation in Dade, Palm, Daytona, St. Johns, etc
From a weather perspective, I'd imagine driving from Bama to Sarasota on Sat will be fine.

Staying with my stepmom. I'd imagine it will be a CF from all the evacuees. Will try and travel late at night to avoid major traffic.

Impossible to tell for sure, but the 962 mb pressure in that frame roughly correlates to a very strong Cat 2 or a Cat 3.

Rman you got everything packed up I saw you were under mandatory evacuation? Good luck
Got the tv's off the wall and all electronics packed up waiting for our evacuation notice. Hopefully we won't get one

Updates on the Euro thus far don't look to have it completing the loop.
Posted on 10/5/16 at 1:34 pm to slackster
Euro is currently forecasting a much broader loop than the GFS, taking it as far east as it currently is through 144 hours.

Thanks for the info
No problem. I wouldn't put much stock in the intensity forecasts 3 days out though.

Mostly packed up, ready to go tomorrow afternoon or Friday AM. Don't know where we'll find a hotel though. Have some family right over by Kernan Blvd, but that isn't very far away either.

Valdosta is sold out.
So is Lake City, Tallahassee and much of Orlando.
Try Tampa or PCB my man. After that, Pensacola/Mobile.
P'cola is a good 5.25 hours without a traffic jam.
Whatever you do, decide before noon tomorrow. The traffic will be ugly.

Damn. I could have gone the rest of my life without seeing Blakely's face again.

As long as you are over the intercoastal I think we will be fine. I am staying in Mandarin or at St. John's town center. I am not leaving town. Main thing I worry about with my house is flooding

So what's up with this crazy loop de loop action going on with the models?

Posted on 10/5/16 at 1:46 pm to rds dc
My GFs parents live in Stuart and won't evacuate. They are Korean so I don't think the realize the potential devastation that could happen from a Hurricane.
How do I convince them?
