EDT or CDT? I'm not staying woke for another hour and a half
CDT! That was one advantage of living in DC, getting the Euro an hour earlier.

GFS flirting with the idea of a loop like Euro and UKMET. It seems to be heading just south of east in the last frame I saw.

...and strengthening more once it gets closer to Jax, than from when he's over the Bahamas.

The NHC has already started to walk about the cone from this afternoon:
It is crazy how tough this forecast has been.

Yeah. A big wide loop way out over the Atlantic.

Over the years it has morphed, thankfully, due to the likes of rds and Bay, into a place where professionals are able to give their thoughts in regards to what they see - and we've found that as a storm threatens the US, and more people become interested, then it makes sense to have a thread that is separate from the regular thread so that people do not have to wade through pages of random stuff.
You would lose an important aspect of these threads in the Q&A and general interaction between people in the impacted region and those professionals. This format is just fine as long as the OP is updated frequently with the latest track and models.

It's not as if they could not answer questions in this thread, the other would just be purely informational.

There is a most likely active duty Marine in GTMO Cuba right now literally in Hurricane Matthew as I type this. He took a great deal of insight and comfort in this thread. I myself loved seeing his pictures from the Naval Base. I will never understand why someone would take the time to DV a thread. How about just not opening it? We do have seriel downvoters that stalk people. Hell, an obituary thread was downvoted. If you can see who it is call them out and they will stop.
I wish GTMO guy would post soon so we know he is okay.

Heading back south at 132hrs...
I can never remember a system that has given the models such fits over such a long period of time. It is nearly pointless to follow the individual model runs past 84 or so hours. It's like every run is from the DGEX (old version of the NAM that was run out past 84 hrs)

It's not a bad idea but how are you going to control who posts what? I doubt rds and bay are going to post and go back and forth in each thread.

Thoughts on moving the game? Unless something drastic changes, I think they have to, right?

This is the 7 day out GFS.
Not to be confused with the 1.5 day out GFS.

It probably wasn't all that bad at GTMO. The wind field is pretty small and they lucked out with it going off to the east of them.

They've done it before...
Ultimately, it will be up to them if we do it. I mean, it's not like they're on the payroll.

Seems like the prudent thing to do, and the sooner the better...

A bit off topic, but I find it pretty fascinating that the US has the audacity to run their model out to 384 for the public's consumption. I have no clue what I'm doing in 16 days, but the US is going to take a stab at what the weather is going to look like.
