NOLA come on man ... please be smart. At least be as prepared as possible.

Oh, I am.
I just got out of the USMC, but I grew up down here (was here for the '04 shitshow of a season, where my area had two landfalls within a mile of each other). I know how to at least prepare.

The family is safe, which is the main thing.

I'm good on that side of the house. As long as a tree doesn't fall on my head, I'm good. And will be having a few brewskis while this passes.

All the gas stations in Charleston already with major lines. People freaking out talking about Hugo. Luckily wife's work no longer an issue. Stocked up at stores today before they got too crowded. Still likely staying put.

Prep does not mean hitting up the beer section at Publix. Get your kids safe buddy.

Over here in Naples, about an hour and a half NW of Miami. Doesn't the western side fare better than the eastern?

Sorry man, I'm out now. Was in Lejeune for the longest time.
Now I'm in South Florida, riding this one out.

You should be fine in Naples. Man I love that place. Between Naples and Marco Island is one of the nicest places on the Gulf Coast

Yes, but the East Coast cities need to be worried about being North of the eye. That is your issue if the eye comes ashore south of Naples.

North East

Although:

quote:

The worst wind of a hurricane are in the northeast quadrant. This is true only if the storm is moving north. It is more correct to say the worst wind is in the forward right quadrant. In other words, it depends upon which way the storm is moving. For a hurricane traveling westward the strongest wind is the northwest quadrant. If it is going east then the strongest wind is in the southeast quadrant. As storms curve the location of the strongest winds shifts.
