That area along Velano beach is really narrow. It could get badly damaged.

My place is on Annestasia island. It's a lot more substantial. Still might get badly flooded and plenty of wind damage.

This is going to really suck.

Yes it is......and it looks like that part of storm will remain offshore.

All of us on the island (Vilano Beach, Ponte Vedra, Jax beach, Neptune, and Atlantic Beach) live on a 1.5 mile wide spit of land with the ocean on one side and the tidal marsh intracoastal on the other. I have the intracoastal about 100 yards behind my house.

Although the ECMWF has a much better record at 3 and 4 days out than any other service.

The latest run of the ECMWF brings the center of Hurricane Matthew onshore Friday just south of Cape Canaveral.

Cuba is currently doing a number on him, I'd wait until it gets past Cuba to really trust any models as they have changed every day.

I'm just concerned it'll rebuild on the other side.

I live in Nocatee I hope it goes east also. 50 miles is really close for that big arse storm. My ex father in law lives 2 blocks off the ocean on Solano rd. His butt is puckered right now also

I owned one between A1A and the Atlantic that was a half block from the ocean, just north of Delray Beach in the Boynton Beach area. Sold it in 2005 after we got tired of repairs and clean up from Charlie, Francis and Jeanne. We never got direct hits in that area, but still had lots of damage and clean up. But you're right about those million dollar homes, except they are multi-million dollar and tens of million dollar homes.

The ocean is right behind them on that stretch between ponte vedra Bch and Vilano bch.

No dunes or anything. They will be gone if this thing is 50 miles off the coast

Once it back out over the water, there is nothing to stop it from getting stronger.

I wonder if the ICW areas get water pushed up into them to flood the barrier islands from the back side. I guess it would. If so, historic St Augustine could really get a lot of damage since it sits at the mouth of the inlet.
