Can you call the pet hotel and ask? Any family to pick the pets up if needed??

Morning from GTMO. Basically we have pretty good thunderstorms right now. Still have power and the wind isn't much at all. Guess we are pretty good as long as Matthew doesn't wobble back west any.
Sure feel bad for Haiti, poor folks are getting pounded.

Not in the bunker, in the winward loop housing. They were pretty confident it was going to go east of us so they only took the folks that lived in non-hurricane resistant housing to the bunkers.

LSU vs FL?
I'd think there'd be a higher chance of the UGA @ SC game being affected depending on how west this thing tracks.

Does this thing have any chance of going west and sliding over Florida into the Gulf, like Katrina did? Or, just going west and getting into the Gulf the old fashioned way?
It could maybe get as far west as the far eastern Gulf but the setup across the entire western half of the country would have to drastically change in a very short time period for it to get beyond that.

Damn, I'm getting worried here in Jacksonville. Live a mile from the beach with the intracoastal marsh 50 yard behind my house. This thing keeps bumping west.
Also have family in Wilmington, NC. They better leave with their baby.

We'll see about that. The water here (Jacksonville) is 3-5 degrees higher than normal for this time of year.

You can't no sweat a cat 2, especially with the way coastlines are developed these days.

Yeah water down here (west Palm area) pretty warm as well. About to find out what work (Jupiter Hospital) is doing. Glad I just finished building my shed

One interesting low probability cluster to emerge from the ensembles overnight is a curve back to the south somewhere around 70W. That would be a major pain. It shows up on the 06z GEFS and the 00z Euro EPS.

Les Cayes will be gone when the sun comes back out.

Same here, I live on Amelia Island about a mile from the beach. Each updated track is getting worse for us.
This thread is awesome for updates.

The Euro would put a major hurricane about 80 or so mile east of Gainesville, FL on Saturday and the GFS would put it there Friday afternoon/evening. At this lead time, that is well within the margin of error. I'm not sure what will happen with the game weather wise unless models trend significantly east tomorrow.
Forgetting the game for a moment, would Gainesville be far enough inland to avoid major damage (i.e., be a safe evacuation point)? I've got family near Jacksonville that may need to get out of dodge and I just happen to already have a reserved room in Gainesville Friday and Saturday nights. That would leave it up to them for Thursday night or perhaps the hotel would let my stay start early.

No not at all. It's a vacation home for us in Miami and we brought our dogs bc were going to be there a month. We just got there this past week and went on a cruise the first week. I'm going to try and call the pet hotel when we get on shore today to see what they have planned if God forbid it hits the area

I think it's you I owe an apology to. That Haiti tree stuff was on the weather channel. I thought you were getting political with some prog environwacko garbage.
Apologies times 1000. I was worried about the storm and where to evac to and all; and got pissy. Please forgive me.
