Just checked my damn garbage cans because I was going to put them inside the garage (live in Orlando), and one of them cocked open last night and filled itself with water.
So now I have the option of either putting a rancid, garbage-water contraption into my garage, or finding a way to dump it out without losing the garbage into the street.

GFS Hi-Res landfall in 36 hours. Winds just shy of 100 MPH right before landfall.

Did you make that?
Yeah, based off of this advisory:
quote:
FORECAST VALID 07/1800Z 29.0N 80.8W
MAX WIND 115 KT...GUSTS 140 KT.
50 KT... 90NE 80SE 60SW 80NW.
34 KT...170NE 170SE 100SW 130NW.
They don't list the nautical miles for 64 kt winds on this forecast, but using the 7/0600Z forecast that does have it and the growth in the wind field between each forecast I extrapolated the 64 kt winds.

So 60mph winds likely in Gainsville? Not worst case scenario but could cause problems.
Eh, likely is all relative. The NHC windspeed probability has only a 20% chance of 50 kt winds in Gainesville, but they account for all kinds of outcomes. For instance, the chance of their forecast being correct isn't great, but if it was 100% accurate, the chances for 50 kt winds in Gainesville would be much higher than the 20%.

I'm in West Palm. Put up the shutters today. Now it's beer time. This will be our 4th hurricane

Crack the lid and slowly lean it over to the ground. That sucks though

Why not drill a small hole in the bottom?

Good thought, but I'd think this would make it a roach magnet

In a pinch you can always siphon the water out, but you're either very brave or very stupid to do it out of a garbage can.

How much water could you possibly have in there? Can't be more than a couple of inches right?

It's like a 1/4-1/3 full.
But the bag is broken open, so it's just garbage and water sewer.
