Hey team
Based off of last few tracks evacuacting is going to be best option for us at the beach

We are boarded, with everything off the ground floor, all essentials in car ready to go

Not going far so we can get back, selfishly going to game because it's still on

Keep me in your thoughts at Jax Beach as you watch the storm

Out if curiosity, what do you think about the areas between San Pablo and Kernan off JTB?

Think it will be ok, honestly my only concern is storm surge and getting trapped because the Bridges's are closed

It still depends on the next several updates?

Are you near any flood prone areas?

I am in a relatively higher area. Evacuation zone c in Jacksonville. I am more worried about the sustained winds and huge trees than I am the storm surge. I think we are far enough away to miss the flooding

How are the conditions for development over the next 48 hours? Do you think it could surprise us by reaching cat 5 status again?

It looks like the forecast for downtown JAX is for 45 sustained gusting to 63 according to this graph. That is just about enough to knock out power, but your structure should be fine. Of course, this is subject to change. If you are not in a high risk flood zone, you can probably ride it out.

Use this link to get your exact area:

ETA: A 60 mph gust can possibly take down a weak or small tree or a large limb of a bigger tree. I don't know how close the trees are to your home - another thing to consider.

If the current track is correct we aren't leaving.

Any shift West and we are heading out.

It's a tough call. I've been here since 91 and Jax normally doesn't get it too bad. Back in the early 2000s we had folks without power for a week or so from all the trees down.

Awesome. Thanks for the help and links guys. It's a tough decision. I appreciate the insight. We have both plans ready to go, and we will see what tomorrow brings.

Weather guys. Advice needed. I will be in Jacksonville until atleast 2 or 3 pm tomorrow. Trying to decide whether to evaluate or not. I live about 6 miles off the coast (other side of the intercoastal from the beach). The problem is evacuation traffic might have me on the road during tropical storm weather. What say the board? Ride it out or fight the traffic lot that will be i10?

If you aren't close to the River, I'd say you should be ok, but don't me liable. Do what you feel is best. We are just evacuating a few miles inland ourselves.

Maclenny, Lake City, then Tallahassee. All have no hotel rooms though.

Why not just head to Gainesville? I hear there's a football game that should keep you busy for a while.

Good luck man. I have faced the stay or go decision many times myself. It's never an easy one to make. I hope things turn out okay or at least not too bad for you and the rest of Florida.
