So you think the city can just annex any and all property without the property owners asking to be annexed?

The city can approach property owners and offer annexation, but property owners have a right to say no. Or property owners can petition for annexation.

I suggest they all do as they please sooner than later so the dust can settle.

Why are you so butthurt that some businesses are managing their financial risk by not wanting to be included in a huge unknown such as St. George?

That’s your opinion.

Mine is Charles Landry who is a very political animal in this parish is cozying up to the mayor and others. Look at this paragraph from this morning’s BRBR About Landry needing zoning and planning help;
quote:

Though a small thing, the curb cuts have become an issue for Rouzan developers John Engquist and Charles Landry, as well as for Tommy Spinosa, Rouzan’s original developer, who still owns and is developing the four-acre commercial parcel that is home to Sprouts.

He could have petitioned for annexation years ago, but now it’s obvious his moves as well as Enquist’s are calculated.

But it’s fine by me. It’s their right.

Gardere area voters were not allowed to vote. So where did your 10% number come from?

And this isn't the city poaching businesses, it's businesses asking BR to take them because they don't want the risks associated with an upstart town like St. George

Paranoid to think this would happen.

Why aren't St.Gs fricking lawyers getting an injunction against this shite?

You want SG lawyers to try and stop people from joining a city? That'd be ironic.

At this point, they are part of the City of St.G.

There is a procedure by which a part of a city/incorporated area can become unincorporated. First, the property owner(s) would have to petition the government of the incorporated entity for approval. If approved, they would become unincorporated. They could then petition for annexation into BR.

This effort is seeking to bypass this requirement because the election has not been certified and the municipal officers have not been named.

While not an election, it's pretty clear there was not support in that area for the incorporation.

A.) If there were support, no way the StG organizers would have not included them. (That would be stupid)

B.) If there were support and StG initially left them off, don't you think residents in that area would have pushed harder to get StG organizers to include them?

No argument, all I stated was that less than 10% indicated they were for SG.

BTW sigs on a petition correlated to yes votes fairly well.

Second petition garnered over 14,585 certified signatures.

SG received 17,421 yes votes.

Wouldn’t it be fair to say if less than 10% in a neighborhood signed the petition then the folks in that neighborhood would likely vote no?

Lawyers for what? Citizens exercising their rights?

What kind of people would sue to stop people from exercising their rights under our constitution?

No one in their right mind would do that much less leaders of a community.
