A sad evening. A true genius who overcame physical limitations. A mind is our greatest asset. Rest in peace Stephen

Has Chris always been in a wheelchair? Do you know? At what age did he have rely on a wheelchair? Anyone know?
I’d pay money to watch him build a house fwiw

quote:can you cite anything of relevance? Most of his "accomplishments" he did a 180 on. He'll probably be responsible for influencing a lot of people to doubt God and Jesus. I guess that's an accomplishment, even if for Satan.

I played an adventure game a long time ago called "A Mind Forever Voyaging." It wasn't about Hawking, but its title is how I always thought of him.

Fantastic man who changed the world with his amazing mind and fricked up body. He’s one man in a billion. RIP.

He's a punchline to most on TD. The depth of intellect is between the cargo short and Trump Steak here.

It’s not even that bad on here. Look at the poli board thread.

At least he's going to miss the coming War against The Machines when self aware AI takes over....
... or will he?

Yep there’s some real mouth breathing retards on the poli board gloating about how he’s in hell now

Damn.
I didn’t realize it got that bad that long ago.
More than a decade ago the ALS progressed to the point of approaching locked in syndrome.
Old communication methods didn’t work, and Intel brought out the big guns to tailor make a method suited for him, with his entire library downloaded into the predictable typing algorithms.
This allowed him to communicate at a rate averaging one word a minute.
One of the finest minds on the planet, and it would take him an hour to express an idea that a shallow ditz can express in less than a minute on Facebook.
And this was true for more than a decade.
Makes you wonder what thoughts and ideas he had that simply won’t be pursued because he was frustrated at the amount of effort it would take to explain it. Better to spend that time on more fruitful statements.
Because after all, the more off the wall the idea, the more time spent trying to frame out the baseline of the concept.
