Does anyone still make them? Any rumors of a comeback? I think GM/Ford stopped around ‘08-09. As tall as trucks are now, some impractically so, I don’t know if a step side would be better or not. Done right, it’s a sharp look.

You don’t need a truck. Get a civic.

I miss the step sides. My Dad this truck when I was a kid. I would love to have one now.

Don't think it's compatible with the shorter bed trucks paired with the larger cab models. But I don't really see why they can't do it with the models with the mid sized or longer beds.

I think GM trucks have a step built into the bumper and bodywork. Definitely not as nice looking as the old step sides.

Add two tone paint as another feature of the 1980s and 1990s that I miss.

Anyone else read this as "step aside pickups" and thought this was gonna be about some new Tesla concept?

No likely comebacks. No demand and drawbacks like storage and fuel efficiency.

I have notices GM and Ford doing some strange little mini-steps on some trucks. Looks bad but I guess is convenient for those high backend these days.

I buy a truck because I need the bed space, not to ‘look cool’ while dumping money into a depreciating asset.

If they do start producing them again, the “step” will be lined with mahogany and they’ll add a tie off line/safety belt and automatically add 25k to the price.

Toyota made a step side version of the Tundra from 2003 - 2006 but that's the last one I've seen

I loved those stepsides. I had ordered a '94 GMC Sierra SLE, silver w/blue buckets, reg cab, 5.7L V8, Z71 suspension and cab lights. Was a bad mamma jamma!

You mean Step Side pickups.

But, as someone above said, now that truck crew cabs have grown to the size of a midsized sedan, and bed lengths have shortened to 5', a step side truck would like like a fat guy wearing skinny jeans.

This is the reason, I assume. Beds are so short now.

Step sides are almost like a regular truck with a mullet hair style

One day I'm getting me another 89 Chevy single cab side step. Was my high school truck.

They aren’t hard to find.

The OT is constantly longing for the vehicles of yesteryear, yet it’s 99% talk and no action.

It’s not hard to find pre-2010 vehicles in good condition.

And somehow they’ll add some sort of electronics to it, bc everything must have electronics

Yep. I liked the club cab as opposed to 4 door cabs for bed length. I'd never use the 4 door space behind the front seat and always found the club cab space sufficient for my needs. The longer bed was more important at the time.
