quote:

Just outside downtown Dunn, N.C., a historic antebellum-style house honors Maj. Gen. William C. Lee, a hometown hero often described as the father of the U.S. Army’s airborne infantry. The World War II veteran served as the first commanding general for the 101st Airborne Division, nicknamed the “Screaming Eagles,” and helped plan the Allied forces’ D-Day invasion of Normandy.

quote:

He’s a widely respected, if somewhat obscure, military figure — which is why, after anonymous vandals attempted to torch a statue of him last week, museum officials concluded that it had been a case of mistaken identity. They suspect that the perpetrators thought they were burning a memorial to Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee.

“This is not a Civil War museum and this is not Robert E. Lee,” Mark Johnson, the curator for the Maj. Gen. William C. Lee Airborne Museum, told WNCN on Tuesday. “This is General William C. Lee from United States Army Airborne from World War II.”

For reference...here is the William C. Lee statue

That would require a basic knowledge of history

They probably don’t even know the difference between the Civil War and the Vietnam War. You are giving them too much credit.

This isn't surprising. The people who believe these statues need to be taken down are idiots who can't make their own decisions.

Well we got to take all white men related statues down. We must must must as we can not deal with the horror of hurt feelings anymore.

Dallas city council is full of race baiters that just voted to remove a statue, and few days later it was spray painted with kkk amd trump hating shite. I bet the person had to google where it was after they heard about the vote last week. So yeah its really been hurting their feelings.

So many fricking cuckin the dem party.

Completely believable. In a group setting, a young guy ( early 20’s) couldn’t name the two sides in the civil war. And was hesitant when answering who won.

Yeah, maybe people will take a minute to learn how awesome the 101st Airborne was in WWII.
