Paid less or work less? This state is made up of a bunch of lazy fricks.

Plenty of places I noticed are closed on Mondays down here.

People purposefully work less so they don't miss out on government money.

Lake Charles kinda makes sense because of all the construction. Workers looking to rent for a year or two can cause a temporary boost in prices, but that bubble will burst once the plants are done.

yes and LC Is one of the few areas of the state that isn't built on a pure bubble or pure debt

our plants and all the private investment coming in provides a lot of money flowing through our economy that few other areas in the state are enjoying

this current RE bubble will burst in a few years for sure, but it's not going to be like a Lafayette bust or anything (and i still don't know how Lafayette is surviving)

That offshore money raised prices, and real-estate agents are refusing to lower them now that oil is back down. I guess they figure there’s still enough baws in the area that aren’t paying for a jacked up F-250 that can afford an overpriced brick cookie-cutter.

Hilariously, Texas and Tennessee do not have state income taxes and have a lower cost of living than Louisiana.

Taxes among the 3 states are about a wash. They just use different collection methods

No. Are you one of those out-of-state people who get off shitting on Louisiana on a Louisiana message board? Worry about your own state baw

"Who Moved My Cheese" would be a good thing for them to read, or I guess have read to them. Since none of those Cajuns have ever seen a book that didn't tell them how to make a roux.

I grew up and own a home in Louisiana, baw.

Wanting my own state to be better, and pointing out our issues is one of the most responsible things you can do about it. I’m not going to drink a 12 pack of bud light and cook some sausage and pretend we don’t have issues. Louisiana could and should have one of the strongest economies in the nation. We don’t because most of our college educated move to Texas.

Louisiana is a complete shithole.

Shitty schools
High sales tax
Litter everywhere
Tons of trashy people
fricked up roads
Crooked politicians
Overpriced housing

What did I miss?

So you feel good about yourself because you "got out?" And if you care that deeply why aren't you doing something about it? What will bitching on tigerdroppings accomplish other than getting personal satisfaction for being "enlightened?"

What is even more sad is that taxpayers pay for a lot of their education only for them to leave right afterwards. It's a major flaw with TOPS

He might be doing it to highlight problems and failed policies so that current residents can support local politicians and business owners who support changing them. That would be a positive influence.

But I can't speak for him, only me. And I'm doing it for the satisfaction of knowing that I got out while all you back-woods "soft-drink" suckers are still burning books and drinking shite beer at your "levy parties" and bonfires.

Bingo
And the same thing applies to taxes.

Compare Livingston Parish or Ascension with EBR. Look property taxes and fees. EBR is much higher.

Property taxes are quite a bit higher in Tennessee vs LA. As is sales tax.

We still pay taxes. We just don’t have a state income tax.

Maybe he should mind his own fricking business. I'm sure whatever state he lives in has it's own problems

I would love to move to Nashville and the cost of living is a huge part of it.

I'm not arguing that LA is a better place to live than TN or TX, it's not. But the tax argument is overplayed. This is a few years old but LA 7.6%, TX 7.6%, TN 7.3%
