It's a fact most troopers have the correct mindset to make the necessary "corrections" those who "live that life" need. Just let them do it.

Traffic stops. Not like they are responding to crimes.

Just heard it's been 18 consecutive days without a murder in the Big Easy.

Terry stops are usually precursors to much bigger arrests because they find wanted folks, guns, drugs, etc. during the stop.

A friend is a reserve deputy in Iberia Parish and worked detail for the Sugarcane Festival a few years back when the residents of Hopkins St decided to hold an impromptu block party.

Because it is, believe it or not, a state highway, their request for assistance was answered by a few cars from the State Police. The IPSO a that point was being polite and asking nicely to clear the roadway.

A black State Policeman rolled up, grabbed a hold of the first hoodlum he could get his hands on and proceeded to beat his arse in front of God and everybody assembled.

The party quieted down substantially after that...

Has crime grown in surrounding areas? Just wondering if they are moving their operations elsewhere

I'm sure they're moving, but the real question is how do we funnell it all to Jackson, MS?

People vastly underrate how important patrols and response times matter. Most of New Orleans issues during 2020-2023 were in large part because the police force was at like 30% of their needed employment. There was a pretty popular post a cop made on Reddit about how he was quitting and how entire precincts would have 1-3 officers during any given shift. Was insane.

Much like countries that support terror activities, the element only respects power.

Display your power as the authority, and the element scurries away.

I think I know what he’s getting at

The consent decree which has crippled this city and others, prohibited police from traffic stops without good reason or even a warrant for fear of profiling. Now though, troop nola doesn’t have to follow the consent decree so they can roll up to a “suspect” and ask questions, frisk them, pull over drivers etc and that is resulting in more arrests.

Call it profiling but law enforcement knows what a criminal looks like and they should be allowed to investigate.

The consent decree goes too far

Sounds like advice one gets when going to prison?

When you allow things to get out of hand you almost have to go Draconian to get things under control. Stop and frisk worked but the civil liberty folks complained like crazy. Funny no one recognized this

Jefferson and St. Bernard Parish don't play with criminals.

If you want peaceful cities, law enforcement and its peaceful citizens need to be capable of great violence.

Yesterday the OT told me that “NOLA crime rates down” was fake news .. now the OT is telling me that the state police are making a big difference in the NOLA crime rate .. Which is it ?
