re: State Farm homeowners insurance is worthless paying claims

Just wanted to thank everyone for responding. I emailed them an appeal letter advising that loss of water made all sewage inoperable. May have to file a complaint with La. Dept of Insurance as Donelon is instructing all policyholders to do the same even for the ones that are just claiming loss of electricity. This seems like it will be a long drawn-out process which is of course what SF and Jake want.

Will Jake still give me the lesbian Parker Promo and the A-a-Ron Rodgers rate if I kill it with fire down to the slab? Asking for a friend.

Reason 1000 why you don't get insurance through these big arse companies. Find a local independent agency, with multiple carriers. You'll find cheaper premiums and a better claims experience, trust me

I cancelled State Farm years ago. Best move I ever did. The only thing they did effectively was consistently increase my rates for no reason. frick em...

I think it really takes loss of sewer to definitely get it
Apparently not. At my house, no sewerage service per the parish. State Farm is fighting me, saying that still doesn't count as Loss of Use.
When the field adjuster came to inspect my damage, I asked him about it. He said that the house is still habitable because it has a roof that is keeping water out of the house.
As he's talking to me, he's sweating his arse off in the south Louisiana heat. He's not from around here, and isn't used to it.
I told him "Look, we had no water, no electricity, and no sewerage service for over 2 weeks. How does that not count as loss of use? See how bad you're sweating right now? Now imagine its just as hot inside your house, and the only respite from the heat is if you sit in your running car with the AC on."
I'm still waiting to hear whether or not they're going to pay it.

And if insurance doesn't pay it, I'm not sure if FEMA will be willing to pick up the tab, which pisses me off. If this had happened in some third world country, our government would be showering them with money as a good will gesture.

My neighbor has nearly the exact same house as me. He got his roof replaced and he only had to pay a $4000 deductible through Allstate. My other neighbor has State Farm. He had to pay a $13000 deductible for the same roof. Yeah...

Loss of use has to be from a named peril loss or prohibitive use. That’s with ANY insurer. You’re pissed because you didn’t read the contract you agreed to by paying premium?

Not like their auto insurance is much better. SF just informed me that they are unable to recoup costs from a wreck I was in 6 months ago. I was at a stop light sitting and got rear ended. Guy was on his phone and never looked up. SF told me I was welcome to pursue my own claim if I wanted.

And this is why normal people hate insurance people. You need to be a lawyer to interpret that shite.

I just hired an attorney to sue them for refusing a storm damage claim on my home in Florida. Literally every house in my community sustained severe wind/hail damage from a storm last year. They all got new roofs except us State Farm customers.
The attorney only does this and it’s a contingency fee so State Farm gets to pay him when we win.
I’ve been a SF customer since I turned 16 years old. I’m freaking 56 and have only had a few minor auto claims. Never a homeowners claim and those bastards deny me.
I win no longer be their customer the day this gets settled.

Commissioner Donelon Orders Insurers to Pay Evacuation Expenses for Hurricane Ida
Do some digging to see if this includes your parish, but Commissioner Donelon is forcing them (caused by State Farm's policy) to pay for it.

Wait this can’t be right. Trial lawyers are the problem, not mom and pop insurance companies like State Farm.
Adjust your thinking.

You don’t shite and pee in your back yard like the rest of us?

St.Farm raped my family after Katrina. I dropped them long ago. All State is right up there with them in not paying owed claims.
