State Farm homeowners insurance is worthless paying claims

Just received a denial for Coverage D Loss of Use/Living Expenses not to be paid. They declined paying saying loss of water does not meet the "uninhabitable" claims trigger. They cleverly used loss of "utilities" on the letter to make it seem like it was only electricity, but my claim specifically stated loss of water.
Does this seem correct? Over the phone the desk adjuster said that loss of water is just an inconvenience, not an uninhabitable event. Said only a property damage occurrence would truly be captured in the full definition of uninhabitable. None of that was in their 2-sentence denial letter however.

Now you know the real reason people stay behind or rush to get back: sometimes you gotta finish what the hurricane started.

have you read the loss of use portion of your policy?

Consult an attorney. Seriously. Insurance companies will do whatever they can to get out of coverage if they can. They're often relying on people just rolling over.
The only thing they understand is brute force and someone on the other side that is willing to fight.
Good luck.

Ummm, yeah, try and get a permit to occupy the residence without running water inside of any city limits.

Ask the adjuster for their address. Go cut their main water line and then apologize for the inconvenience.

Was the water loss onsite or off site? Typically loss of use is the loss of bathrooms and kitchen. How can you use bathrooms without water. Ask for their definition of loss of use. Work backwards from there.

Jake said stuff your white privilege up your arse. Along with your policy. Thanks for the premiums. Now go pound sand.

It’s the same with loss of electricity. Losing electricity or water is not a covered peril. Your home is still in tact. Had the wind blown a tree down onto your home creating a giant hole, then yes that’s a covered peril that results in loss of use. Just losing utilities doesn’t trigger the loss of use coverage. USAA didn’t pay for my gasoline for the generator under loss of use or additional living expenses for the same reason.
Look, I despise State Farm but they’re correct in your situation.

Understood. I guess I don't know enough about sewage but I assumed full blown water shutoff (verses loss of pressure) meant toilets, gray/black water is not operable in a basic needs sense to trigger uninhabitable conditions. If you're on city sewage and water, how else could it work if you lost water entirely? What other way magically brings water back to those utilities other than manually dumping some bathtub water in the shitter?

Don’t hope for hope on the OT with insurance questions. This board is full of insurance agents and defense lawyers saying stuff like this. Screw them, State Farm, and the rest of them hurting South Louisiana people.

Do yourself a favor and look into Amica (if they provide service in your area)
They are great and almost look for an excuse to pay claims. IIRC they dont have agents and hire independent adjusters so they have a super low overhead, which i think is one reason they are more than willing to take such good care of their clients.

Would you rather the agents and attorneys here NOT give correct advice and continue letting all the jackasses here who think they know what they’re talking about spew incorrect bullshite that only furthers the misinformation regarding how insurance is supposed to work?
