I think the Starbucks fiasco was way over the top. What that manager did to those 2 guys just sitting at a table was rotten. Calling the cops was not the right thing to do. And now that the whole thing has been magnified and addressed with Starbucks trying to mend fences, the new policy has been put out loud and clear that anyone is welcome and they don't have to make a purchase.
So what happens if damn near the whole store is occupied by folks who just want to get out of the heat/cold and not buy anything at all? Will we see another thoughtless incident on national news? What do you think?

Here is an actual quote from their training:

Starbucks Executive Vice President Rossann Williams gave an example, claiming she observed a barista approach a customer who was using uncomfortable language and say: “You are in our store every day, and we love that this is your third place, but from one human to another human, the language that you are using is making other customers uncomfortable. So either you have to change your behavior, and stay and be a part of our third place, or I’m going to have to ask you to leave, and you can come back at a later time, when you feel like you can be a part of our third place. And in fact if you want to go have a seat, I’ll bring you over a cup of water, just to make sure that it’s a great rest of your day.”

I'm guessing home is first, job second, and Starbucks third? Sounds corny.

I don’t like the tone used here. It smacks of backhand

J wish I would win the Powerball so I could open a coffee shop chain named "The Third Place".

Corporate motto would be "If you are not making a purchase, gtfo".

I don’t think a whole lot will really happen. Sure some in cities with a lot of homeless may be affected a bit but overall business as usual.

Honestly I always sort of assumed you could go into most anyway and chill for a minute.

A large portion of Starbucks customers go there to work in a quiet place and use their internet. There's a good chance allowing anyone in will affect the atmosphere, especially in urban areas where a lot of people can walk in.

Is there any locations on a NOLA parade route? I hope so. I will stand in front for Endymion and watch the literal shite show.

I plan to pack a lunch and my own drinks and snatch a table, charge my iPad on their $, and sit there until I have to take a yuuuuge dump. Once I disable their restroom with my usual 3 pounds of rotten excrement, I’ll not flush and get back to the rest of my sammich, thermos of coffee, and fully charged iPad and cozy seat. Ahhhhhhhh. I’m retired so this could get to be real fun.

Starbucks is too wrapped up in PC culture.

It’s a private company on private property, if they don’t want you on their property. They have the right to tell you to GTFO

Good troll poke, but not strong enough...because they were loitering...
How about:
quote:

These laws that allow and support loitering are stupid, people shpuld be able to do and go where ever they want, like SF
