Disney is just fricking with people now. Do you have to stand on one leg and hop in a circle too?

As a previous poster said, be there before the park opens to get a lower number in the virtual queue.
Was there in early February. Park opened at 7 we were in the park at 7:09 and we were in group 99. We should have called the Uber earlier. I wouldn’t rely on the bus to get you there in time.
*Once in the park one of us reopened the app and one of us left the app connected. The one who left the app open got on the virtual queue. This seems to vary so have one person in your party do one and the other person do the other option.
The ride broke down a lot that week and a lot that day. They stopped calling groups after group 86 for an hour around 4 pm. They started calling groups again and we finally got on the ride about 6 pm. That day they were calling about 10 groups an hour. Earlier that week they only went to group 79 on one day because of break downs. Most days it is at least 120 or so if everything goes right.
Once you get called it takes about 30-40 minutes in an actual line.
Read Disneytravelblog for tips.
Most people immediately flock to galaxy’s edge first thing, so if you go to toy story land first instead you will wait for less time as opposed to later in the day. Strongly suggest reservations for anything like the cantina or the droid place in Galaxy’s Edge; it gets packed.

Why isn’t there just a regular fastpass or line available?

I think they are trying to control the crowds and try to make it reasonable to get that ride done. If they make that crap a stand by, that shite is going 5 hours (hell more possibly with the big Star Wars base).

Gives people the chance to go hit up other rides in the park instead of waiting all day just for one ride. It also makes the wait extremely reasonable once you get in. It is usually pretty fast moving getting in once you scan your boarding pass for the ride.

You think any of the responses in this thread are “reasonable”?

Any ride worth doing at a Disney World park is going to have a muli-hour wait.

It's a $100+ for a day pass per person so you can stand in line for 70% of the time you're in the park.

I can’t speak for others, unless you went to the grand opening/opening weekend, there is absolutely no reason to be getting up at 4 something in the morning to get there to book a pass. That is just extreme overkill.

Getting to the park about 30 minutes early isn’t too unreasonable. We got in pretty quick to book the pass. We had time to kill, got pretty much most the park done in the morning before we went to hit that ride up. We got the ride done pretty quick when we got in line.

Now, if you want to show up mid day and plan on doing it, you are out of luck. This is Disney, you aint walking on rides showing up in the middle of the day unless you have a fast pass.

We got up at 430. Arrived at 530 and was middle of the pack. Park opened at 630 and my boarding group number was 41

This is the saddest thing I’ve read here if you’re being serious

Going to Hollywood tomorrow. Lot of conflicting info in this thread. We will get there at 7:30, it opens for 8:00. If that doesn’t get it..... it won’t ruin our day.

If you think that’s sad, you should’ve seen the grown men practically running this morning at Epcot trying to get in line for the Frozen ride. Many pushing a stroller and wearing LSU garb. I was embarrassed for them.

broke down yesterday with me in the line for interrogation standing on blue. Was out of commission for about an hour but I was not fricking leaving. I was group 145 & got in the ride around 6:30, ride went down, finally cranked back up around 7:30, left the park right at 8. Rise is the best experience at Disney no doubt.
Smugglers Run is not to shabby either.

I will hobble myself before standing in line for hours at an amusement park.

Getting to the park at midnight or 7 am makes no difference. You can’t get a boarding pass until they tell you to which lately has been at the official park opening time. The only reason to get there early is to be first in line for another ride. Once the boarding groups open it’s a free for all in the app to get a boarding group. I got an 80 and rode it around 4:00 that afternoon. My morning was busy already so I was glad I didn’t get an early one. Some days the ride breaks a lot so they may not get to later boarding groups though.

That’s all you need to know.

Arriving at the park an hour early for a ride that was open for 10 days at a place I will not be back to for 10 years?
