Someone smart tell me what this translates to for a mortality rate in Santa Clara please?

I feel like I must have antibodies. I’ve been in an ICU room almost everyday since this crap started . Sometimes I’m in for 3-4 hrs at a time . I’ve been working 5 days a week 12-16 hr days and still symptom free .

There’s been over 14,600 deaths in New York City. If every single one of the 8.7 million people in NYC have had the virus (unlikely), the death rate is about 0.17%.
Does NYC's flu death rate match up with the national average? Are a third of documented annual flu deaths in NYC presumed cases despite no tests or negative test results?

Based on the median estimates from the CDC, the seasonal flu death rate is about 0.09%.
Now account for a vaccine for the flu that, in its worse years, is 40% effective. Usually around 60% effective.

It is not the flu but yeah I'm sure the geniuses on the OT know way more then all the experts who have been studying this thing for months

No amount of available data will change the minds of the stubborn.
It’s ok to admit that this virus is much deadlier than the flu. Several times deadlier. It’s ok to admit that and still want to open the country back up.

This thing has had 30,000 deaths in the US attributed to it in the last 16 days. The flu kills 40k/year in a 6 month season. This thing will potentially kill double that in one month. You can legitimately argue whether the reaction has been overblown, but this is not your average fricking flu (and every doctor I’ve talked to would agree with that).

Imagine thinking you know more than the President of the United States and the Governors of all 50 states. Each of whom are being advised by large teams of the smartest medical professionals in the country.

CDC estimates that the burden of illness during the 2017–2018 season was high with an estimated 45 million people getting sick with influenza, 21 million people going to a health care provider, 810,000 hospitalizations, and 61,000 deaths from influenza
Pot calling the kettle black.

That is about 0.14%... with a vaccine.
Posted on 4/17/20 at 11:59 am to RollTide1987
This is expected given COVID's R0 number of 5.7. This virus is almost 4 times as infectious as influenza.

But you also have to take into account that there are a sizable number of deaths that are being attributed to Covid that may only be simple carriers who have actually died from others causes.

0.2%
Covid 19
0.4%
So yeh, it’s TWO TIMES DEADLIER!!!!!!
But two times something that is extremely small
