Jefferson Chamber
quote:
Introduced in concert with the region’s tricentennial anniversary, the new Metairie Flag celebrates the area’s people, culture, history, and ideals.
Already recognized by flag experts as “among the best in the United States,” the flag’s distinctive colors and features display a diverse French-Spanish-American heritage and a sincere appreciation for the area’s rich Louisiana history and New Orleans ancestry.
Both familiar and fresh, the most notable attributes of the flag are its three golden fleurs and coeurs de lis (flowers and hearts of the lily) balanced in a coupling of trinity arrangements, respectively representing tradition, wisdom, prosperity, opportunity, faith, and innovation. The red and blue foundation and aspirational thin, white stripe signify the principles of natural liberty and equal justice guiding a limited, transparent government.
The flag’s silent motto is “Ardentibus Cordibus Floremus” or, more simply, “With ardent hearts, we flourish.” This maxim is an overture to the strength and potential of Metairie, its people in collaboration with the community from freshly blossomed couer de lis to fully mature fleur de lis, continually renewing and growing.
The Jefferson Chamber Young Professionals (JCYP) believe the creation and promotion of a Metairie-specific flag will spark a unique sense of place and identity for the Metairie area and its associated Metairie Ridge communities of Jefferson, Elmwood, and River Ridge.
JCYP is distributing flags throughout the community in partnership with the Jefferson Chamber Foundation. All tax-deductible donations for flags (and future flag-related merchandise) will benefit the Metairie area and go exclusively to JCYP-led quality of life improvement projects.
Metairie O Metairie

Metairie is not even an incorporated city. It has no Mayor. It has no Chief of Police or Fire Chief. It has no city council.
But it has a flag?????????? This is strange.

Why does every region or city have to have their own flag? What’s wrong with the LA state flag. It’s traditional and never goes outta style.

I kind of like it.
I'll allow it.

WTF?
Number one, who told the Jefferson Chamber to come up with such a thing? Stupid idea...
Number two, that description is such BS, it's funny (aspirational thin white strip? limited, transparent government? silent motto??)
Number three, if there ever WAS a flag of Metairie, it would have GREEN in it.
I'm from Metairie. It ain't MY flag...

Those things on the bottom look like a diagram of the female reproductive system.

That’s not the Lafayette flag. That’s the Acadian flag. It represents Acadian heritage and culture. It’s flown all over the south central region of the state. It can also be seen in other parts of the state but not as frequent.

Are you sure this flag is not just for New Metry? Surely there's a more special and better flag for Old Metry.
