Anyone else surprised by this? I would of thought he was over 500 million with how often his characters have movies and how much money they bring in.

Surprised it is that much. He did not own the characters. Many of them were created by teams of people, particularly the team of three he was a part of for a while.

Exactly. The Lee estate has significant value, but Stan himself doesn’t have 2 nickels to rub together today.

If I had that kind of money in retirement, no way would I leave that much behind. Go have a good time while you can. Feed a bunch of hungry people. Fund some scholarships. Give doctors money to find a cancer cure.

It may have only been 50-80 million, but he was nonetheless a marvel.

I'll show myself out.

On an episode of pawn stars a few years ago, some guy had some valuable comics signed by Stan Lee.

Rick said the comics might actually be worth more without the signature. He said for years and years and until recently, Lee would travel to every comic con or comic book show around the country to sign anything because he needed the money.

It is well known he was surrounded by vultures probabaly since the movies started being made.

yep. he sold all his rights a while ago. and in his old age his "estate" runners paraded him out to EVERYTHING to make a buck. It was weekend at Stan's most of the time with how almost dead he was.
