former US Marine....no such thing

My DD-214 states I was honorably discharged from the USMC in the early 70's. For a few short years after, my nightmares were that I was called back to active duty.

"Once a Marine Always a Marine" is a term of pride and brotherhood we share with our fellow jarheads of all generations, the rest of our lives. In no way, shape or form am I equivalent to an active duty 0311, my MOS.

"Former" is a difference with a distinction; active duty Marines deserve the contemporary respect they've earned. I feel the same way about the 101st Airborne, really all in any service branch serving honorably.

The Marine Corps is a life-long, exclusive fraternity of men, and that's good enough for me.

I am not sure if should like this or not like it. Just gut-wrenching.

What a terrible situation for this man and his family. Prayers for strength, wisdom, comfort and ultimately peace for all involved.

Your point being the officer lost his life serving the Parish's citizens because he lived in what you term a "shite hole?" Did that make his life in your view worthless?

I have been out for about 15 years and my most frequent re-occurring dream is that I am leaving for Iraq tomorrow and my wife and kids still don't know and I have to tell them. Still happens once a month or so.

Also, I can't find my rifle.

I’m in Da Nang dressed in civvies arguing with the Platoon CO showing him my DD-214 that I don’t have to go back. It’s dusk and I see dark VC outlines outside the wire waiting for me

Sometimes I wake up on the floor kicking my legs to get them away but that’s last been a couple years. Weird shite our brains store somewhere. It’s the same dream every time.

Everyone in that car should be charged with murder.

So far, three of the five have been charged with first degree murder. As this happened in STP, they are going to be wishing they never did this. Life or death penalty coming, thankfully. And all are 17.

None are getting dp, because they are 17.

The STPSO said the pursuit began on Brownswitch Road when a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle, which instead “fled at a high rate of speed.”

Da East is a dangerous, lawless hell hole. I-10 between downtown and the lake is like playing that old videogame spy hunter with all the NOLA Eastians driving like dumb fricks.

This kid is fricked literally and figuratively, and it only becomes more real with the flak jacket.

Curious where these assholes were enrolled in school. Doesn’t matter or change anything obviously.

Was shocked to hear they are all from Slidell. I like many in this thread assumed it was kids from the east heading to St. Tammany.

Looks like lots of us were wrong.

I meant why was he stopping them? Speeding? Fleeing the scene of a crime? Known wanted person he recognized?

It's a key question.

I’m told the driver is a shithead, which is confirmed by his actions this weekend. Long list of crimes, including a recent hit and run.
