Of course, do we really know that the cop told them to get off the street? Is this the friend's story?

Unless a person has an attorney with them to know the full extent of the law it's foolish to chance it.
Why even provoke police knowing some don't have good intentions?

We don't really know anything for fact.
And yes, that is the friend's story.

This will never happen and you know it.
Cops make orders every day that aren't based in law. They have come to expect those orders to be obeyed because of their badge. That isn't a good situation.

It's the friend that was with him. That's the story he's telling.

How about I take the route of believing the police story 100% like you guys have taken the route of believing the friends' account 100%. This kid assaulted an officer and tried to take his gun, his death was justified in the eyes of the law. /thread

Yeah. I think this part of the story is bullshite. The kid had reportedly snatched some cigars or something from the QT.

A few years back there was an incident involving Maplewood Police chasing an African American motorist that the cop claimed attempted to run him over. They pursued him all the way into North St. Louis with the assistance of STL's finest and caught him when he fell on the side of a building on Martin Luther King Dr. 3 officers subsequently proceeded to beat the crap out of this man. One of the three cops was an African American and they didn't stop until one of the cops looked up in the air and saw Fox2news broadcasting the beat-down live for everyone to see. I kid you not this is a true story.

I don't think I've taken that route. I don't think reedus has either.

without reading all of these pages, has it been determined if the cop was black or white yet?

If y'all will drop the "obey the police and this never would've happened"
It's not up to us what kind of consequences you will face for whatever choice you make if you're in that situation.
This poster that i quoted is saying the dude died because of walking down the road.
This is a flat out lie.

Yall are arguing that walking in the street doesn't justify death as if the story of walking in the street being the cause of the original stop is 100% factual.

This the comparison you're trying to draw?

You're not playing close enough attention here. If you can't read the posts, don't respond.

it's not right. that is irrelevant when they have a gun and have shown they will kill people
DO NOT RESIST
DO NOT GIVE THEM A REASON
THEY WILL KILL THE frick OUT OF YOU (regardless of race)

Streets aren't made for walking? Not sure where you are, but it must just be cultural thing in St. Louis then. People walk, jog, ride their bikes, play catch, do all sorts of things in the street. Hell, I even have a basketball hoop set up for my kid to shoot hoops in the street
The cop has every right to tell the guy to get out of the street. If the guy refused then the cop has every right to charge him ( there are laws about walking down the street obstructing the flow of traffic). From my understanding that's when it turned physical and according to the officer this guy tried to take his gun. People dont try and physically disarm officers so they can admire the craftsmanship of their weapon. It became life and death at this point.
At this point I have no idea what to think
