This the comparison you're trying to draw?
I think pintos is making the easy point that cops don't always abide by the law.

This will never happen and you know it...unless i stole the computer and milk. How can you compare this with an officer telling you to get out of the street?
I would hope not.

most cities have laws against walking in the street...why not use the sidewalk? Why make walking in the street an issue? Were his rights being violated by being told to walk on the sidewalk?
Exactly my point. Why make walking in the street an issue. 99.9% of the time, the cops would never make an issue of it in the part STL where I live.

Knowing that some cops suck? Not the best advice IMO
No, they will know their rights. If that ultimately means that they are wrongfully arrested, let them arrest you. Their are means of dealing with that later.

She then said she saw the teen, hands in the air, attempt to flee.
Obviously he wasn't innocent.

Of course, do we really know that the cop told them to get off the street? Is this the friend's story?
I don't believe the police have commented one way or another. Originally, I believe they tried to float the idea that the kid had just stolen something from a store. Apparently the shop owners said not aware of that and never reported anything such as that. Time will tell what the official position of the police is.

The question isn't one of innocence or guilt. It's the appropriateness of the response.
If the scuffle happened inside the car, why is the man shot 35 feet from the car? That's not disputed by the police.
If you or I got into a fight and the person was running away from us and we shot them, we would be investigated by the DA. The same should happen here.

Why even provoke police knowing some don't have good intentions?
And that is the problem. I agree with you but I also don't accept the fact that we should have to live our lives like that.

No proof. There is question whether he was shot 35 feet away or if he was shot closer and collapsed 35 feet away

It's being investigated by the FBI and Justice Dept. so there's no conflict of interest

A few years back there was an incident involving Maplewood Police chasing an African American motorist that the cop claimed attempted to run him over. They pursued him all the way into North St. Louis with the assistance of STL's finest and caught him when he fell on the side of a building on Martin Luther King Dr. 3 officers subsequently proceeded to beat the crap out of this man. One of the three cops was an African American and they didn't stop until one of the cops looked up in the air and saw Fox2news broadcasting the beat-down live for everyone to see. I kid you not this is a true story.
He was fleeing officers...beating was deserved if you ask me. Doesn't matter if he was white or black either. Did the fricker fleeing give a shite about innocent people he could have hit or killed during the chase? frick people like that.

So you're a police apologist. Got it.

No I'm a realist. Everyone is quick to take the victim's side without facts.

because he doesn't accept the automatic worst case scenario in a situation where facts are not prevalent?

Beating a suspect is a violation of their constitutional rights. Your willingness to cede those rights in no way means that society cedes those rights at large.

I don't think I've taken that route. I don't think reedus has either.
This. More of the story will come out eventually. I would hope the police version is a little more detailed than the age old "He went for my gun" because that's not going to hold water for many and the stupid shite is going to continue to boil over. I hope they provide a more detailed account.

i don't like it, but you better accept it until we change the real problem (the police state)
principled and dead means you're still dead
don't give them a reason
do not resist

without reading all of these pages, has it been determined if the cop was black or white yet?
Rumor mill is black. Not confirmed.

I think pintos is making the easy point that cops don't always abide by the law.

No. Because he was presented with a fact that is not in dispute and he immediately interpreted it in favor of the police.
I don't know if the 35' is significant. But it's a question I want answered. He doesn't care and immediately explained it away.
